We are honored to invite you to the Grand Opening of Courage, our newest mausoleum at Hollywood Memorial Gardens, on Tuesday, September 30, at 9:30 AM. Ribbon Cutting scheduled at 9:45am with light bites and beverages provided.

This project has been nearly four years in the making, and we are deeply grateful for the patience and trust of the many families who have pre-purchased spaces. With your support, we were able to bring this vision to life—creating a truly beautiful and peaceful resting place for loved ones.

The mausoleum stands as a place of reflection, serenity, and remembrance, and we would be privileged to share it with you. During the event, you are welcome to tour the space, ask questions, and join us in celebrating this important addition to our community.

Whether you have already made arrangements or are considering options for the future, we warmly welcome you to be part of this special day.

We look forward to seeing you and sharing this moment together.

📸🔦TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT 📸🔦
Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, our Cemetery Manager, Trevor Jackson, has called South Florida home for all of his 52 years. With an incredible 29 years in the death care and cemetery industry, the past three with Fred Hunter’s, Trevor brings a wealth of knowledge, dedication, and compassion to his role.
For Trevor, the work is deeply visual and intentional: “Every detail matters. It’s about honoring lives and creating a place of peace and serenity.” He feels most connected when guiding grieving families through difficult moments, ensuring that the cemeteries remain spaces of remembrance, comfort, and healing.
Leadership, for Trevor, comes through motivation and gratitude. By sharing “thank you” notes from families, celebrating small wins, and offering consistent praise, he inspires his team to recognize the importance of their work. “The grounds they maintain are sacred, and what they do matters deeply.”
On his days off, you’ll often find him at home tackling projects or chores, always with the same care and dedication he brings to his work.
Thank you Trevor for your endearing dedication.

🌿✨ Fred Hunter’s at the City of Hollywood’s Employee Benefits & Wellness Fair ✨🌿

Last week, our team—Family Service Counselors Anthony Coffey, Deidre Lawrence, Simone Martin, and Market Development & Outreach Manager Stacy Babb—had the honor of connecting with hundreds of City of Hollywood employees at the Hollywood Beach Cultural Center.

🤝 From meaningful conversations about the importance of pre-planning to sharing resources that bring peace of mind, it was a privilege to support those who continue to support our community.

🌸 As a small token of gratitude, we gifted potted penta plants—bright blooms that attract butterflies and remind us that life is always in bloom.

For more than 70 years, Fred Hunter’s has been proud to serve alongside the City of Hollywood, and we remain committed to carrying forward our mission of compassion, care, and community connection. 💛

🤝 Strengthening Community Ties at the Plantation Chamber 🌟

Our Sales & Outreach team proudly represented Fred Hunter’s at the recent Plantation Chamber Luncheon, hosted by the City of Plantation Police Department at Jacaranda Country Club.

✨ Market Development & Outreach Manager Stacy Babb joined Family Service Counselors Luis Downham and Deidre Lawrence in connecting with local business leaders, fostering new partnerships, and reinforcing our mission of service.

The luncheon featured an insightful presentation on Business Fraud Awareness, equipping attendees with tools to protect their companies and keep our community safe.

💡 At Fred Hunter’s, we believe success comes through market visibility, community recognition, and trust. Events like these help us strengthen relationships and remain a valued presence in the community we are honored to serve.

After returning to South Florida 21 years ago from Pennsylvania, Samarah found not just a career, but a calling. 📸🔦TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT📸🔦

Meet Tasha St. Gelais—a vibrant force whose energy is as contagious as her compassion. Originally from Lake Placid, NY, Tasha has called South Florida home for the past four years. When she’s not working, you’ll likely find her poolside with friends and a gripping Stephen King novel in hand.
A recent graduate of the MDC Mortuary Science program, Tasha is passionate about building her experience and making a meaningful impact. What fuels her most is the connections formed with families in the arrangement rooms (which Tasha has had the honor of sitting in on), which inspires the care she provides behind the scenes.
Tasha takes pride in honoring every story and culture that passes through the care center, viewing each as a sacred trust. Her commitment to being a team player and growing in the profession makes her a valued part of our Fred Hunter’s family.
We’re thrilled to have Tasha on our team and excited to watch her career flourish!

Current Funeral Market Developments to consider:
🎯Are you in our target market?
Historically, funeral pre-planning was primarily associated with older generations, especially those over 65. However, a significant shift has occurred. Younger adults, particularly Millennials (ages 27-42), are now increasingly engaging in pre-planning. Nearly 20% of 18-34-year-olds having planned their funerals. This is a big contrast from the 1990s, where such discussions were less prevalent among younger demographics.
✍️Some driving factors include experiencing the loss of a loved one and wanting to ease the burden on family members. Some are embracing the "death positive" movement, and utilizing online tools to research and arrange services. ✍️Pre-planning is no longer a taboo subject offering financial benefits that lock in prices and helps avoid potential family conflicts. While the average age for starting pre-planning is still often cited around the early 50s, the growing engagement of younger generations reflects a more proactive and open approach to end-of-life planning.
📈Surveys from the National Funeral Directors Association have found that Millennials are more likely to do some sort of preplanning than other generations. So if it seems like we addressing everyone in the room, its because we know our audience and our words are likely to impact a broader range of generations.

📸🔦TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT 📸🔦
Funeral Director, Joanna Cadet, is one of our freshest faced members on the Fred Hunter’s team joining us this past January. However, Joanna’s 18 years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director in South Florida gives this Miami born native some serious clout in the business of serving her community.
Joanna begins her day with the Serenity Prayer and a commitment to serve incoming families with compassion and care. The meaningful moments are what it’s all about for Joanna. These moments come from the words and actions of appreciation shared with her from those she has served. A family who lost their son in a car accident continues to leave an impression on Joanna having shared a similar loss of her uncle at a young age. They shed tears together and have a bond that still keeps them in contact years later.
Church and Brunch for Joanna and her family on Sundays are a non-negotiable. While self-care with a good Netflix show are a close second to how Joanna enjoys her time away from the work she feels called to do.
