Mother's Day post: I come from a famous family bloodline. My great-grandmother is Nwanyeruwa, the Mother of African Nationalism and leader of the 1929 women's revolt against the British during the Great Depression. My nicknane, Nwabugwu, is named after her. Our village in Nigeria is Oloko, the birthplace of African Nationalism and our family home is a Nigerian national landmark. I named my practice after the onyx stone necklace, which is part of our village's fashion for generations, and to honor the women of Oloko, my great grandmother, who layed the foundation for African independence from the European powers, which culminated after WW2.
