Bayshore Ophthalmology is excited to introduce LipiScan—a quick, comfortable imaging test that gives us a detailed look at the glands that keep your eyes from feeling dry or irritated.

We can easily evaluate the structure and function of these glands:
• Healthy meibomian glands appear long and well-defined, running vertically like “white threads” beneath the eyelid.
• Gland dropout (loss or shortening of glands) appears as missing or faded areas, indicating that the glands are not producing enough oil—often the root cause of dry eye disease.
