He patiently listened to any questions that I had. I was also very worried about the financial aspect of the surgery and he put me at ease after explaining how his office deals with insurance. We are teaming up with NY Boldest to hold a special breast cancer charity game honoring those who have dealt with Breast Cancer. This year we will be donating proceeds to the Sarma Plastic Surgery Center who assisted our very own Maggie Tacopino after she was diagnosed with this horrific disease. Maggie is the wife of our team captain and president Dan Tacopino and our biggest supporter off the ice. If you’ve been to a game you’ve probably seen her laugh, smile, and red hair greet you at the door of every game. Behind the scenes Maggie is instrumental in the functioning of the team and we wouldn’t know what we would do without her. Maggie’s battle with breast cancer began after being diagnosed with stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma on November 16,2021. Maggie being the fighter she is found Dr. Debra Camal and Plastic Surgeon Dr. Fares Samra as top doctors in the Monmouth County region and put her treatment in their hands. A bilateral mastectomy was performed on February 15, 2022 which resulted in a successful outcome and no further chemotherapy or radiation. Since then she has been cancer free and is blessed to have these doctors and her family who have been her biggest support in her recovery. Proceeds from this game will be directed to the Sarma Plastic Surgery Center which she is an avid supporter of and welcomed her into their survivor community. Tickets are $15 at the door with donations welcome. Puck drop will be at 7:00pm on November 23rd at Middletown Ice Rink. Let’s pack the house and raise money for this great cause!

- "When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my world fell apart. I was terrified — not just of the cancer itself, but of what would come after. Losing a part of myself felt unbearable.

In the middle of the fear and uncertainty, meeting Dr Samra changed everything. From the very first appointment he was caring knowledgeable, and unbelievable sweet. Along with his staff Ashley and Amanda they were amazing so helpful and comforting. Answered every question I asked always with a smile. Dr Samra and all his staff always took the time to explain every detail of my reconstruction options, never rushing, always making sure I understood and felt comfortable.

Dr Samra’s professionalism and compassion were evident in every word and every gesture. During the most difficult time of my life, he made what felt like a horrible experience somehow comforting. After several meetings with my breast surgeon, Dr.Catherine Campo she advised me to set up a consultation with Dr. Asaad Samra. I vividly remember the first time I met Dr. Samra, I could see and feel his brilliance and compassion and I was confident that I could trust him with my life. Every visit with him through my journey was amazing.
