Holmdel First Aid Squad Holmdel First Aid Squad is an all volunteer organization answering all 9-1-1 medical emergencies 24/7 Our squad is always looking for new members.

We are an all-volunteer team of EMTs, Drivers, and high school aged Cadets who have the desire to help the residents of Holmdel in their time of need. Our organization was founded in 1969 with the belief that volunteers do a better, more compassionate job of caring for the sick or injured. The trained members of Holmdel First Aid respond to all kinds of calls for help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

, and 365 days a year. We take pride in our ability to save lives and comfort those who need treatment and transport to an area hospital. Our all-volunteer force never bills for our services or charge for our transports. We rely on the generous donations from our businesses and residents to operate. Our squad is as diverse as the residents who inhabit our township. With members from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and age groups, we forge a strong bond to commit only the best emergency medical care. Our squad responded to over 1,600 calls for help last year. Many times we are responding to more than one emergency at a time. If you can commit to the time and have the desire to help, we will make sure you are trained to handle all types of emergencies. We invite you to tour our facilities & ambulances, meet our members, and join our squad family.

Last night members of HFAS and their families attended the annual fireworks display at Bell Works. Our duty crew was available for township calls and we had a standby crew on scene for the event. Fortunately we had only one call for service despite the high temperatures yesterday. We look forward to this event each year as a chance to socialize with each other, get our families together, and enjoy some ice cream! Thank you to all who came out!

This weekend, four members of the Holmdel First Aid Squad’s Cadet Program participated in the annual Bayshore EMS Cadet/Youth Competition held at Keyport First Aid Squad, putting their skills and knowledge to the test against approximately 40 other Cadet teams from NJ and NY. This was the first year we were able to send Cadets to participate due to the event falling on prom weekend at HHS every year, and we couldn’t be more excited to have had this opportunity!

We are so incredibly proud to share that our team of Cadets was named the Grand Champions of the competition, and brought back the 2025 trophy!!! This was no easy feat, and truly showcased the skills our Cadets have learned and practiced throughout this year, as well as their own hard work and dedication put into the Cadet program and their team trainings leading up to the competition.

The Cadet teams competed in the areas of obtaining and monitoring vital signs, CPR/defibrillator usage, oxygen administration, bleeding control, splinting, and bandaging. They also engaged in simulated scenarios including traumatic injuries and a motor vehicle crash with entrapment. Through these skills tests and scenarios, Cadets were judged not only on their knowledge and proficiency of basic life support skills, but also on their use of EMS equipment. We are proud of all of the Cadet participants, but ESPECIALLY proud of our very own Cadet Grand Champion team! Congratulations Zoe, Elena, Anna, and Aamna!

On Thursday evening, HFAS hosted the Holmdel Township Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy class at our Crawfords Corner Road building. The attendees participated in three stations facilitated by our members and Cadets to learn about what we do, our various specialized equipment, and our crucial supplies. One station focused on our supply bags, CPR equipment, oxygen, and charting. The second focused on lifting and moving equipment, our powered Stryker stair chairs and stretcher/loading system, and our ambulance. The third focused on our extrication equipment and our rescue truck. We thank these residents for getting involved in the community in this way, and are happy to be able to share a little bit of what we do as Holmdel’s fully volunteer first aid squad! Interested in joining or simply want to know more about us? Keep visiting our socials and check out our new website for more information and our membership application! https://holmdelfirstaid.com

At Tuesday evening’s Cadet meeting, the Cadets participated in a special firefighter CPR training course. The Cadets had the opportunity to learn how to assist in providing immediate CPR to a firefighter in full turnout gear during a call for service. came to our Crawford’s Corner Road building to provide our Cadets with important information, hands-on training, and firsthand knowledge of the best ways for EMTs to provide care in such a unique and critical situation- one where absolutely every second counts. Many thanks to Holmdel Fire’s Rescue Lt. Bobby Woodhead of Shut Up and Train Fire, and to the members of holmdelfirerescueco2 who came to help present the hands-on component. We appreciate you spending the evening providing this training to us!
