Earlier this year, ABEE Inc. had the privilege of installing a new dynamic and low challenge course for Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN.

The course features a good mix of problem solving, vertical challenge and universal events, designed to encourage individuals to push themselves, knowing that their team is there for support.

Our trainer Daniel Miller went back in August to train the new practitioners on the ins and outs of what it takes to effectively use a challenge course to promote individual and team growth.

ACCT has become aware that Headrush Technologies (the maker of the TruBlue iQ auto belay device) have discovered that TRUBLUE iQ devices with specific retraction spring containment components can exhibit impaired retraction over time.

This week the ABEE family lost a great man, Jeff Steffen. Jeff was a pioneer for getting Adventure Education programs into k-12 schools in the Midwest. He was a professor at University of Northern Colorado and University of Wisconsin La Crosse. He taught many of the teachers we work with, sharing the impact adventure programs and experiential education have on students. Jeff had significant involvement with the ACCT, volunteering on the Review Committee, Operations Standards Committee, and Board of Directors. He also taught the importance of incorporating accessibility for all to participate in a challenge course program.
To us Jeff was colleague, mentor, and more than anything a dear friend. We will miss hearing his hunting and fishing stories, but even more having him with us on those adventures.
