DID YOU HEAR THAT đđđź
One of the most common questions I get asked in the office â âAre you cracking bones when you adjust me?â
Short answer is no.. the longer answer is also no but with an explanation! đ§
The sound during an adjustment is called a âcavitationâ â a release of gas bubbles inside the joint space as pressure changes in space. Similar to the sound you hear when you open a canned beverage, itâs the result of pressure shifting in an environment!
Important things to remember:
1ď¸âŁ The sound itself is not the goal of the adjustment
2ď¸âŁ No âcrackâ doesnât mean the adjustment failed
3ď¸âŁ The goal of the adjustment is to restore motion, and improve brain/body communication
Yes, hearing the popping sound is OH so nice, but itâs not our goal when weâre adjusting you! The real objective is making sure proper motion is restored to dysfunctional joints and reducing stress on the body! đđźâĄď¸
