Our Holmes County Special Olympics athletes and Advocates have been very busy over the last couple of weeks.
October 1st through the 3rd, 2 of our Advocates/Athletes attended the Synergy conference held at The Kalahari Resort in Sandusky Ohio, along with 900 others! We got to hear some amazing speakers who helped to motivate and inspire us to SET GOALS, STEP OUTSIDE OF OUR COMFORT ZONES, & NEVER GIVE UP.
We all agreed that all the speakers were great, and our two favorites were Jan Spence (ex-womenβs professional football player) and Cody Byrns who is a life-altering tragedy survivor. They were both fun and witty to listen to.
Then the Special Olympic Athletes participated in The Holmes County Antique Parade. I am sure from the photos you can see how much fun everyone had. Huge Thank you to our volunteer walkers/candy throwers Jessica, Cooper, Sawyer and Holdyn.
Tuesday evening, we held our annual Athletes, parents and providers meeting before our first Basketball practice to get ready for the season. We then had a Special Olympics family get together meal. It is great to see everyone and to have social time. The season will kick off on November 10 vs Wayne County's Big Blue at Triway HS.
Wednesday morning SSA Kassi, Cindy, Carrie and Dayne headed to Guernsey County for an ISP Gathering. This was a lot of fun to use a game to teach us about decision-making. Our group picked the fun name of Dragon Riders! Dayne did an amazing job explaining why he made the decision he made in his adventure.
