I have a passion for children but work well with teens and adults who present with anxiety, self esteem issues, behaviors and depression. An area that I focus on is play therapy and how to utilize it in my work with children. I am currently working on becoming a registered play therapist and plan on completing the training by the summer of 2019. The concept behind play therapy is the therapist will begin playing with the client through games and interactive arts and crafts. The theory behind play therapy is to raise the levels of dopamine and serotonin levels through play. Dopamine and serotonin levels are the feel good chemicals that automatically raises when play is involved. When these levels of feel good hormones are high, then the issue can be brought into play and the issue suddenly becomes less troublesome since it is being dealt with during times of high levels of dopamine and serotonin which can reduce any stress or anxiety associated with any particular issue.
