Meet the Provider Monday! Say hello to Dr. Lesley Mugford.

Dr. Mugford has been with Holyoke Pediatrics since 2000. She is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, but moved to the Northeast for undergrad at Boston College. She attended medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine, before returning to Massachusetts for her pediatric residency at Baystate Children's. She has been here at HPA ever since!

Dr. Mugford loves all aspects of pediatrics, but has a special fondness for the care of newborns and teenagers. She enjoys fostering strong bonds with the patients and families she cares for, and welcomes the challenge of helping children lead healthier lifestyles. When not at HPA, Dr. Mugford enjoys traveling (especially to Disney), reading, staying active and spending time with her husband and 2 sons!

Dr. Mugford currently serves as our Medical Director here at HPA, and she also sees patients in Holyoke 2 days a week, and in South Hadley 1 day a week.

Meet the Provider Monday! Say hello to Dr. Erica Kates.

Dr. Kates has been at Holyoke Pediatrics since 2019. She holds an undergraduate degree from Williams College. She went on to attended medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and then completed her residency at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. She believes that the relationship between a pediatrician, patient, and family should be that of a team, and she loves to create individualized health and treatment plans together with families. She also believes strongly that social, mental, and physical health are closely intertwined, and that health in one realm is connected to health in all the others. When not at HPA, Dr. Kates loves to spend time with her wife, two children, and her two very enthusiastic miniature schnauzers. She also loves music, theater, and books. You may even find her on stage in a local production if you're lucky!

Dr. Kates sees patients in our Holyoke office 3 days a week. She speaks some Spanish.

Our garden is growing! Summer is a great time to incorporate more fruits and veggies into your child's diet. Even picky eaters are more willing to try new foods if they are involved in the process of picking them. The garden in front of our Holyoke office is free for all of our patients. Next time you are here for a visit, stop by and pick some fresh veggies, herbs, or berries!
