CATALYSTS FOR CARE | At full-day regional planning meetings in Seward and Kenai this week, stakeholders from across the Peninsula came together to envision how the Rural Health Transformation Program can lead to meaningful, lasting change and create better health outcomes for Alaskans.
They identified their communities’ biggest health-related strengths. They also discussed priority needs and challenges, such as:

• Transportation and access to medical appointments
• Expanding prenatal care
• Needing more community health workers to link people to resources.

"It's important that we’re listening to what is working and where the gaps are," said Commissioner Heidi Hedberg. "That way, we can make sure that these funds are grounded in real needs and we are supporting communities in caring for individuals."

We're deeply grateful to our community partners for hosting us and for contributing their energy, time, and knowledge to the discussion.

As we continue to hear about the needs of specific regions, additional meetings will be announced on the RHTP web page: https://direc.to/fRx3
