I’ve been busy cooking & creating & crafting nourishing postpartum meal plans as the last full moon of winter passes and we turn toward Spring. I am feeling blessed to be able to offer these things to mothers in my community, and our little cabin has been humming with good scents and happy bellies. I cannot wait to see what the Alaskan forests + waters + my little garden will provide for me to use this season.

✨ 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕨𝕠𝕣𝕕 “𝕕𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕒” 𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕖𝕤 𝕗𝕣𝕠𝕞 𝕒𝕟𝕔𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕥 𝔾𝕣𝕖𝕖𝕜, 𝕞𝕖𝕒𝕟𝕚𝕟𝕘 “𝕨𝕠𝕞𝕒𝕟’𝕤 𝕤𝕖𝕣𝕧𝕒𝕟𝕥.” Coming from immigrant parents, I know how much support our previous generations had. They literally had a "village" to help raise their children, there was s better sense of community. Even in the United states, 40, 50 years ago, women were home and could rely on their neighbors, even if it was just to talk.

Times are so different but in many ways, still the same. With women making up 46% of the workforce, not as many mothers stay home. This does not mean that they do not need the support, it just highlights how much more important the work of a postpartum doula is.

It doesn’t have to be all rainbows and or***ms (but it can be).

You don’t have to *love* and welcome every sensation.

Or breathe deeply the whole time.

Or calmly repeat your hypnobirthing mantras.

𝕐𝕠𝕦 𝕔𝕒𝕟 𝕃𝕆𝕊𝔼 𝕐𝕆𝕌ℝ 𝕊ℍ*𝕋!

Indeed, that’s what births about;

Unravelling,
Disintegrating,
Surrendering to the force that is birth.

You can ROAR and SCREAM and WHINE and VENT.

You can hate it… you can be more exhausted than you’ve ever been… you can really want it to be DONE.

It all gets to be here.

Because you absolutely WILL do it.

You will.

And you will learn that you can do very hard things.
