What’s the difference between a preventive test and a diagnostic test?
When you visit your doctor, you may be recommended for different tests, and it’s important to know the difference:
🔹 Preventive tests are screenings used to detect diseases or conditions before symptoms develop. For example, a screening blood test for diabetes when you don’t have symptoms is a preventive test.
🔹 Diagnostic tests are used to investigate a condition further once symptoms are present or if you’ve already been diagnosed. For example, if you’re diagnosed with diabetes and you get a blood test to monitor your blood sugar levels, that’s a diagnostic test.
Understanding the role of both can help you stay on top of your health and catch issues early. Regular preventive screenings are key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle!
