WINTER WEATHER UPDATE:

Due to the icy roadways, driveways and parking lots, Birmingham Allergy will be closed all day today (Tuesday January 15, 2024). We will be in touch with you Wednesday afternoon or Thursday to reschedule your appointment.

Because it is not anticipated that the temperature will go above freezing until tomorrow afternoon, if you have an appointment for Wednesday January 16, 2024 and have not heard from us before your appointment, please send us an email at receptionist@birminghamallergy.com, or text us at 205-234-6141 to confirm whether we are open before you head to the office tomorrow.

Happy New Year!

For patients using Flovent as their daily inhaler:

GSK will stop making Flovent HFA 12/21/2023. There will be a generic version (Fluticasone HFA) but you will need to check with your insurance company to see if they cover the generic. Or if they have a comparable inhaler that is preferred (lower cost to you).

After you have that information of your insurance-approved options, call the office and leave a message that you have been using Flovent but will need a prescription for one of the list of comparable inhalers that your insurance company will cover. Also leave your pharmacy phone number. We will need that list to make the best choice for you, and will call that in to your pharmacy.

If you are due for an appointment, we may request that you schedule that before we make any changes to your asthma control medications.

To Patients of Birmingham Allergy & Asthma Specialists, PC:

As the last few months of 2023 come to a close, we want to thank all of our patients for your commitment to wellness and to your loyalty to our Homewood practice since 2006.

As we prepare for 2024, we have had to make some difficult choices due to changes in
medicine in general, the increased costs of running a small practice, increased insurance regulations, and decrease in reimbursements, so we have made the decision to consolidate our Homewood and Inverness (Hoover) offices.

The Homewood office will CLOSE on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023.

The Inverness (Beaumont) office will remain open with the following hours (as listed in images 3-4).

Beginning Monday December 4th, 2023 all patients of Birmingham Allergy & Asthma
Specialists will have their appointments and allergy shots at our Inverness office at The Offices of Beaumont Village (address listed below). We will also continue to offer telemedicine visits.
