Thank you for an amazing Moving Forward, Birmingham!

We’re so thankful to the more than 200 guests who joined us last week for the Moving Forward: Birmingham Parkinson’s Conference 2026. We had an amazing time learning from each keynote speaker, browsing the exhibitor tables, and learning some fun Tai Chi moves. We are so happy to provide community and connection through Moving Forward. Your support and engagement made this year’s event truly special.

If you’d like to revisit a session or catch one you missed, conference materials are now available here: https://www.parkinsonalabama.com/mf-birmingham-2026

Eva Litkenhous from Auburn, AL recently competed in Miss Alabama’s Teen at Thompson High School in Alabaster. At 15 years old, Eva was the youngest contestant to make the top 15. Eva attends Lee-Scott Academy where she’s in the 9th grade.

For her talent, Eva performed a vibrant fusion of Samba en Pointe to “Hot Wings” from the movie, Rio. Eva also competed in physical fitness and evening gown segments during the finals and answered on-stage questions regarding her service initiative. Her initiative for the Miss Alabama Organization is: ABC’S of Parkinson’s Disease – Mind and Body Exercises for Active Aging.

Eva decided to enter the Miss America Organization because of the available scholarship opportunities. In fact, she won both an academic and dance scholarship at the competition. But ultimately chose to compete so she can advocate for Parkinson’s in memory of her Grandmother, “GranJean”. Additionally, Eva was just granted 501(c)3 status for her foundation, the EVE Foundation and is in the final stages of publishing a book inspired by her story with GranJean. Eva hopes the book sales will fund her foundations growth as she looks to teach the next generation to lead with compassion and remain steadfast in support of those living with Parkinson’s.

Eva looks forward to not only going back to Miss Alabama’s Teen next spring, but being a vital part of the PAA, as well. You can follow her journey on instagram at: abcs_parkinsons_exercises.
