So sad to hear this news today…

Rest in Peace Officer Tim Jones. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and the Park Forest Police Department.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our friend and fellow officer, Park Forest Detective Tim Jones.

In March of 2016, Tim’s life changed forever when he was critically wounded in the line of duty. He was shot multiple times while bravely taking an armed offender into custody. We were told he wouldn’t survive, but Tim had other plans. With the strength and determination that defined him, he fought back. Day after day, year after year, he pushed through challenges most of us can’t imagine. For nearly 10 years, Tim showed us what courage, resilience, and heart truly look like.

Yesterday, Tim’s long and difficult battle came to an end. And while our hearts are broken, we remain incredibly proud of the fight he gave. Tim will always be an inspiration and a reminder of the power of strength, faith, and the unwavering support of family and loved ones.

We would also like to thank the community for that steadfast support throughout the years. From every blue porch light to the viral hashtag, we saw our community rally around Tim, and we are truly grateful.

We ask that you keep Tim’s family in your thoughts and respect their privacy as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Public funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized, but we will share them as soon as they become available.

Help us wish Brandon a Happy Birthday and a big Congratulations on passing his Paramedic exam. We are ecstatic to have him. His attitude and eagerness to train and develop is like no other. Brandon is a true asset to Homewood!

The firefighters do not deserve this nor they want this. They want to come to work and know city management have their back and are giving them the tools to succeed. It is not just the residents of CCH but it affects the surrounding communities they serve. Degrading service, while having an agreement already set in place is outrageous and illegal. Keep up the good fight!!!!!

Today we remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honor the first responders and citizens whose exemplified extraordinary courage and selfless acts of bravery. Their sacrifice and heroism will never be forgotten. As we reflect 24 years later, may we continue to carry forward their legacy of unity, resilience, and strength. We will never forget.

This weekend, Deputy Chief Dejong exemplified true friendship and leadership by participating in the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network walk, taking meaningful “Steps for Pete.” It was inspiring to witness such a strong bond and unwavering support. Pete is truly fortunate to have such an incredible friend.

Welcome aboard guys!

Help us welcome three new members to the Homewood Fire Department!

Firefighter/Paramedic Billy Galgan joins us after serving the residents of Hazel Crest, Firefighter/Paramedic Shamarr Shelton brings his experience from serving the Harvey community and Ryan Hope, a former U.S. Navy SEAL, will begin his firefighting career with HFD by attending the fire academy in April, followed by paramedic school.

We’re honored to have these committed individuals join our amazing fire department.

By orders of Chuck Sullivan-AFFI President and Commander Jay Coburn, the AFFI Honor Guard is being activated for the duty-related death of Deputy Chief Pete Bendinelli of the Calumet City Fire Department.
Brother Bendinelli recently lost his battle with occupational cancer. A former president of Calumet City Professional Firefighters Local 621, he remained an active member of the local.
