This patient came to us at 9 years old, which gave us the opportunity to catch an issue going on with her upper canine and premolar -- the canine was positioned to come in between the premolars instead of in front of them! This condition is called a "transposition", and is most commonly seen involving upper canines and premolars. Thankfully, after selective extraction of a few baby teeth and a lot of patience, the teeth eventually crossed back to their appropriate positions. After that, we were able to begin treatment with braces to finish correcting their positions.
This patient also had lateral incisors which were slightly small in proportion to the rest of her front teeth. We strategically left open spaces around these teeth for her dentist to execute some fantastic buildups. The results speak for themselves, and could not have been accomplished without timely intervention and collaboration with our local dentist. We are thrilled with her new smile!
