As a therapist, I often sit with clients who are navigating one of the most emotionally complex seasons of life—caring for aging parents.
There’s a quiet role reversal that happens. The people who once provided safety and stability begin to need it from you. And alongside the love and commitment, there can be grief, stress, guilt, and exhaustion.
One of the most important things I remind clients is this: pause and acknowledge the reality of what you’re carrying.
Try this simple grounding practice:
• Hand on heart ♥️
• Inhale: “This is hard.” 🧘♂️
• Exhale: “I’m here.”😮💨
And just as important—reach out.
Support matters. You were never meant to hold this alone. 🫂
Caregiving can be meaningful, but it is also heavy. BOTH can be TRUE at the same time.
