My name is Brittany Whitlock and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I am licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensed Social Workers and the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners. As a LCSW, I provide a complete range of psychological and counseling services – including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment – to children, adolescents, adults, and families. For treatment, I use psychotherapy (talk or interactive therapy). I use a cognitive/behavioral therapeutic approach but may utilize different types of therapy for certain situations when needed. I am committed to providing accurate and effective treatment to the individual and their families. It’s May, so just checking in… “How is everybody doing?”

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a good reminder to focus on the importance of mental health and its impact on our well-being. Mental health conditions can affect anyone, regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, or income level.

The good news is… mental health conditions are treatable. 😅

Seek help or tell someone if you are struggling. And it’s important to ask people in our lives how they are. Seek help or tell someone if you are struggling.
Simply by being there for someone when they need us, we instill hope in ourselves and those around us. 💚

National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

You should know:

If your staff are still being trained to de-escalate and restrain or seclude kids, you're not preventing crises, you're not improving safety, and you're not providing trauma-informed care.

To truly reduce or completely eliminate the use of restraint and seclusion, staff need to know how to prevent crises. And true trauma-informed care consists of four important components: emotional and physical safety, collaboration and mutuality, trustworthiness and transparency, and empowerment and choice. If you’re just managing crises, most of these ingredients will be missing.
