Navian Hawaii

Navian Hawaii Our mission is to Bring Hope, Reduce Fears, and Impact Lives.

Hospice care is about living your end-of-life journey with dignity and comfort, and above all, it’s about choosing how you want to live for as long as possible. At Navian Hawaii, we are an ohana of trained and committed caregivers dedicated to helping patients and their families face this transition with hope and without fear, surrounded by unconditional love. The care we provide allows individuals to remain at home or in their chosen setting and to live life to the fullest with their loved ones. We care for the whole family by providing relief from physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual suffering.

Did you know… hearing is often the last sense to remain?

Navian Hawaii community liaison Myra Ondayog has been working in hospice care for over 10 years. One lesson she’s learned: even when someone can’t respond, your words still reach them.

Speak from the heart. Share memories. Sing and laugh. Let peace fill the room. Your loved one can still hear you.

Today, on GivingTuesday, we simply want to say mahalo.

We invite you to watch a short message from our President & CEO Dan Haire, filmed at our Kailua Home, a place where comfort, dignity and aloha surround families during some of life’s most tender moments.

Many of you have supported us through extraordinarily challenging times. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gift or advocacy for our mission, your generosity has touched lives in ways you may never see but families feel every single day.

Because of you, Navian Hawaii continues to provide:
- Peaceful, compassionate hospice care
- Supportive palliative services
- Healing grief support for those navigating loss

As we reflect on the impact we’ve made together this past year, we are filled with gratitude. Looking ahead, we renew our commitment to showing up with warmth, transparency and dedication. We hope you’ll continue walking alongside us as a partner in this work.

Mahalo nui loa for believing in our mission. Visit our website at navianhawaii.org to join us on our journey.

Congratulations to Patient Care Manager Maggie Ritchy-Agor for receiving the Ken Zeri Leadership Award! 🏆👏

Ken Zeri dedicated over two decades to Navian Hawaii, showing deep loyalty to the mission. As CEO for 16 years, his work reflected compassion and dedication, inspiring future generations in end-of-life care.

This award honors Ken’s legacy and recognizes a Navian Hawaii employee who exemplifies that same commitment and care.

Mahalo to Maggie for her integrity, compassionate care, community commitment and excellence in leadership!

This Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for our incredible care team and the patients and families who welcome us into their lives with such trust and aloha.

The moments in this video are a glimpse into the kind of care that happens every day at Navian Hawaii. It’s more than just a clinical visit. Our care teams go the extra mile, like spending time to learn a patient’s favorite hobby. These are the connections that bring comfort and heart to the work we do.

Mahalo to our team for the compassion they show, and mahalo to our patients and families for letting us be part of their journey.

Deborah began volunteering with Navian Hawai‘i to give back and quickly became part of our ‘ohana. From playing chess and sharing stories to checking in on patients, she brings not only her time but also her heart to every visit.

“I don’t think there’s a greater feeling than making someone feel appreciated,” she says. “Being there for them during any phase of their lives is truly rewarding.”

Mahalo, Deborah, for showing us what it means to care with aloha. 🌺

Our Story

As Hospice Hawaii, we provided Hospice Care at journey’s end. Now as Navian Hawaii, we’re expanding our services so we can provide care earlier in a patient’s journey. Our new Integrated Care delivers specialized care to those with serious illnesses, before Hospice Care is needed.

As we expand our purpose to provide care for every life journey, our Hospice Hawaii name has also evolved to Navian Hawaii (/ˈnav ēən/). Formed from the words “Navigator” and “Guardian,” Navian is a modern take on the critical roles each staff member performs. As navigators, the Navian ohana provides clarity and guidance through times of uncertainty. As guardians, they provide healing and compassion.

United as Navian Hawaii, a new journey is beginning—a journey to improve the lives of Hawaii’s people, to celebrate every one of life’s moments, and to navigate always in the direction of hope.
