Navian Hawaii

Navian Hawaii Our mission is to Bring Hope, Reduce Fears, and Impact Lives.

Hospice care is about living your end-of-life journey with dignity and comfort, and above all, it’s about choosing how you want to live for as long as possible. At Navian Hawaii, we are an ohana of trained and committed caregivers dedicated to helping patients and their families face this transition with hope and without fear, surrounded by unconditional love. The care we provide allows individuals to remain at home or in their chosen setting and to live life to the fullest with their loved ones. We care for the whole family by providing relief from physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual suffering.

“Navian was a godsend. If they weren’t here, I wouldn’t know what to do.”

When David became his dad’s primary caregiver, he and his wife did everything they could to balance work, life, care and the emotional weight that comes with loving someone through serious illness.

But when it became clear they couldn’t do it alone, Navian Hawaii stepped in to provide the support their family needed.

We honor caregivers like David — the sons, daughters, spouses and loved ones who show up every single day with strength. Mahalo for being there when it matters most. And when it feels overwhelming, please know that Navian is here to guide you.

We invite you to share your story or words of appreciation for a caregiver. Your voice could be the encouragement someone else needs today.

Mahalo to Rotary Club of Honolulu Sunset for inviting Navian Hawaii President and CEO Dan Haire to share more about the work we’re doing!

It was a great opportunity to hear from other community leaders and learn from each other. When we come together, we strengthen the support around those who need it most.

Mahalo to Aloha Island Lei for donating these beautiful flower arrangements! 💐

Our care teams had the honor of delivering them to patients across the island — including a few who are celebrating birthdays today! It was a wonderful surprise and important reminder that a simple gesture — like giving someone flowers — can bring comfort and joy.

“Once you ask for help, they’re right there.”

Tmessa’s mom shared how much it means to have Navian Hawaii by her side, someone she can turn to for guidance, comfort and support. Our care teams show up not only for the patients, but also to spend time comforting siblings and supporting the entire ʻohana.

This glimpse into their home is just one of many families who welcome us into their lives each day. Being trusted to walk alongside them is a privilege we never take lightly.

Mahalo to families like Tmessa’s for trusting us to be part of your journey. If you’ve been touched by Navian Hawaii, we’d love to hear your story.

Why memories?

Because they’re the echoes of love we carry forward… the moments that stay even as time keeps moving.

Memory making is a tender part of life’s journey, a way to hold close what matters most. We offer patients the chance to create hand castings, sculptures shaped from joined hands, capturing every line, every touch, every quiet connection.

These castings become more than keepsakes. They become a way for families to hold a moment forever.

Did you know the average time someone serves on a board is about three years? Creighton Liu decided to stay at Navian Hawaii for more than a decade!

For Creighton, staying wasn’t about tenure, it was about the mission. He saw firsthand what makes our approach unique.

“Navian doesn’t focus on the service, they focus on getting to know the family, getting to know the patient and doing whatever it takes to get them comfort care,” he shared.

As he looks ahead, Creighton hopes Navian Hawaii continues to evolve, expand and bring hope to even more communities. We’re grateful for his leadership and years of service.

When the people behind the care come together, the mission feels even stronger.

From hospice aides to chaplains, nurses, social workers and many more, the work we do is bigger than any one role. We carry the responsibility and the privilege of caring for our communities.

This all-staff meeting brought everyone together to celebrate last year’s accomplishments and set our sights on the year ahead. The future of healthcare is built together.

Our Story

As Hospice Hawaii, we provided Hospice Care at journey’s end. Now as Navian Hawaii, we’re expanding our services so we can provide care earlier in a patient’s journey. Our new Integrated Care delivers specialized care to those with serious illnesses, before Hospice Care is needed.

As we expand our purpose to provide care for every life journey, our Hospice Hawaii name has also evolved to Navian Hawaii (/ˈnav ēən/). Formed from the words “Navigator” and “Guardian,” Navian is a modern take on the critical roles each staff member performs. As navigators, the Navian ohana provides clarity and guidance through times of uncertainty. As guardians, they provide healing and compassion.

United as Navian Hawaii, a new journey is beginning—a journey to improve the lives of Hawaii’s people, to celebrate every one of life’s moments, and to navigate always in the direction of hope.
