It was a fun-filled day in the sun with our friends from the University of Hawai‘i Kappa Sigma fraternity! The fraternity brothers stopped by our Recreation Therapy department in late October for a special visit, jumping right into games of pickleball with our patients before ending the day with a well-earned pizza party.

Happy Veterans Day from our Shriners Children’s Hawaii ‘ohana to yours!

In observance of this special day, we were deeply honored to host a Veterans Day pinning ceremony at our hospital to recognize our staff and family members who have served our country.

The ceremony began with a procession by the Kalaheo High School Navy Juinor Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) Color Guard and a beautiful rendition of the National and State Anthems by Braylinn Multer, an NJROTC cadet. We were also privileged to hear remarks from Retired Army Colonel Trey Johnson, followed by heartfelt words from our patient ambassador Solomon and his father, Retired Master Gunnery Sergeant Guss Lee Alexander Jr.

Each of our veterans and family members was presented with a special pin—a small token of gratitude for their extraordinary service and sacrifice. Following the ceremony, everyone gathered in the lobby to enjoy sandwiches, cake, and refreshments in celebration of our heroes.

A huge mahalo to all our veterans for your courage, dedication, and selfless service. Today and every day, we honor you.

We had the pleasure of welcoming the Honolulu Fire Department's Community Relations and Education team to our hospital! Every year, our HFD friends review our fire evacuation and safety procedures, sharing valuable tips to help keep our patients, families, and staff safe.

They even made a special visit to our Family Center where our patients had a blast meeting the firefighters and receiving some cool stickers. Mahalo to the HFD for supporting our mission in providing the highest quality of care to our keiki!

As our Halloween celebrations come to a close, we’re spotlighting our staff who dressed to ghoul-impress in their creative and fa-BOO-lous costumes! Which one was your favorite? 👻

On Halloween day, our patients had a blast trick-or-treating around the hospital and showing off their amazing costumes! Our staff joined in on the fun too—dressing up, spreading cheer, and handing out sweet treats along their rounds.

The celebration didn’t stop there! Our patients continued the fun with a spook-tacular Halloween bash hosted by our Recreation Therapy team, complete with scarily delicious snacks and fang-tastic games. It was a day filled with laughter, creativity, and all treats—no tricks!

Make an appointment by calling 941-4466. Or, if your child has a playground or sports injury you may come to our weekday Walk-In Injury Clinic Monday through Friday until 3:30 p.m. For ongoing orthopaedic issues please call and make an appointment.
