Along this process of becoming a midwife, I realized there are experiences, people, lessons that I’ll never forget.

Caring for our mothers fills my soul with so much joy. They are my teachers! Teaching me how to be a better midwife in the making, how to listen, how to learn, how to surrender, how to love, and most importantly how to embrace the power that is within.

PLACENTA POWER ✨ ~ This amazing organ is attached to the lining of your womb during pregnancy.

It keeps your unborn baby's blood supply separate from your own blood supply, as well as providing a link between the two. The link allows the placenta to carry out functions that your unborn baby can't perform for itself.

The placenta is connected to your baby by the umbilical cord. Your baby is inside a bag of fluid called the amniotic sac, which is made of membranes.
Oxygen and nutrients pass from your blood supply into the placenta. From there, the umbilical cord carries the oxygen and nutrients to your unborn baby. Waste products from the baby, such as carbon dioxide, pass back along the umbilical cord to the placenta and then into your bloodstream, for your body to dispose of them.

The placenta produces hormones that help your baby grow and develop. The placenta also gives some protection against infection for your baby while it's in the womb, protecting it against most bacteria.
The placenta passes antibodies from you to your baby, giving them immunity for months after birth. Your placenta has supernatural powers ✨

💫Placenta LOVE 💫
What are the benefits of ? 🍃The placenta serves a vital role in the healthy development of the baby. However, once it leaves the body, it still contains an enormous number of beneficial hormones and a great deal of iron. The mother’s body, after giving birth, has lost a lot of blood and is low on iron. A new mother’s body is also dealing with rapid and drastic hormonal changes triggered by the birth, and is engaged in the process of achieving a post-pregnancy state. 🍃These enormous changes, coupled with other factors such as genetics, are the cause of the rapid mood swings mothers face, postpartum depression, and their sense of exhaustion.
🍃The many proponents of placenta encapsulation point to the beneficial hormones and iron present in the placenta as a solution to these problems, as well as a way of increasing milk production and an overall sense of well-being. For mothers concerned with consuming chemical drugs , placenta encapsulation is a unique way to experience healing effects using something that is natural that comes directly from your body. .
💫Remember these seven benefits of placenta encapsulation: 🍃Decrease in baby blues and postpartum depression. 🍃Increase and enrich breastmilk. 🍃Increase in energy. 🍃Increased release of the hormone oxytocin, which helps the uterus return to normal size and encourages bonding with the infant. 🍃Increase in CRH, a stress-reducing hormone 🍃Reduce post-natal bleeding 🍃Replenish depleted iron levels (Repost from doula sis )

Captured this photo of one of my clients baby girl’s footprint🌱 Minutes before her baby girl’s arrival there were so many people doubting if she would be able to do it. I quickly reminded my client to kill the noise, and remove the distractions & trust her body! To dig deep into her intuition and allow her body to release & flow! Within seconds of trusting her body and surrendering, SHE DID IT! She birthed her Healthy baby girl the way she chose ✨

Let’s Talk Partner Support! Partner support can consist of any one not just the father of the baby. Providing physical, spiritual, and mental support before, during, and after birth is vital.

Here are 5 things that you can do to support your partner 👇🏽
1.) Discuss her birth plan, including what to do & what not to do.
2.) Be her support- Physically & Emotional .... reinforcing positive affirmations and letting her know you are their will make a big help.
3.) Communicate her wishes to the maternity team, and their advice back to her. Support her in making decisions and Speak up for her if she can’t do this herself.
4.) Stay Calm & Ask Questions (if needed)
5.) Comfort her if she wishes
These are just a few steps in supporting your partner!

🗣Do you have a postpartum plan?
We are diving right into discussing why is IMPORTANT🌱 Too often we focus so much on preparing for the birth that we forget that the (4th trimester) is just as important! Creating a concise postpartum plan should be apart of your birth plan!

Your is a time of joy and exhaustion. It’s also sometimes confusing and stressful. Your body just birthed a child, you’re sore and your hormones are stabilizing. If this is your first child, everything is new and different. If you have other children you may feel spread thin between baby and your older kids. Having a support system planned in advanced can make a huge difference in how you feel in those early days.

If you have supportive family, that’s wonderful! If your partner gets time off of work, great! Lots of friends that will help, awesome! If not, a could be hired to take care of you so you can take care of your baby. "Your needs as a new mother would seem simple to define: rest so you can heal; gentle education and reassurance as you gain confidence in your mothering skills; nourishing food and drink for yourself; a relinquishing of practical chores to someone else so you can withdraw into yourself and your baby; knowledge about what is going on with your body and spirit; some realistic images and guideposts about the range of feelings other women have experienced postpartum; a place to "debrief" and talk about the birth itself and your emotions; and most especially, some mothering for yourself, so you can feel protected and honored and continually replenished at a time when many women say they feel as if they are forgotten, peripheral, or "running on empty."” — (source: )
