Kekoa Collective Ke Koa is a Hawaiian word for brave, bold, fearless, valiant, courageous, soldier, warrior, fighter, hero. In or out of the ocean, on or off the mat.

We are a lifestyle apparel brand rooted in Mindful Living, using Jiu Jitsu, surf, and travel as tools to build community, inspire connection, and help heal humanity—one human at a time. Kekoa Collective was founded in 2009 on the idea that surfing, jiu jitsu and traveling could be a way of life - and we’ve never looked back. A few years later we discovered yoga, and now cannot live without it. We live by three simple life rules: work hard, play hard and do-good. It is with this passion and joy that we live a life of humble means in terms of material wealth, but infinite in terms of happiness and self-fulfillment. In short, sharing and teaching extends into our everyday life.

Kekoa began in 2009, when I was a blue belt at Gracie Barra and completely addicted. Surfing had shaped my life, but jiu jitsu transformed it.On the mat, I watched people heal, grow, transform and discover their inner self. Jiu jitsu wasn’t just a martial art—it was a magic potion.

After 20 years in the surf industry, I helped launch Kekoa Collective with one belief: if more people trained the Gentle Art, the world would be more peaceful and connected. Inspired by Yvon Chouinard, we built Kekoa as a conscious business—using profit to serve people, community, and humanity.Today, Kekoa unites the global jiu jitsu community, supports black belts and new dreamers, and serves those in need. This work is our honor.

Jiu Jitsu is an art of remembering who we were before the world taught us the ego.We are born without ego—open, curious, whole. Over time, our environment gives birth to a voice that separates us, compares us, and pulls us away from our truest self. At first, Jiu Jitsu meets the ego head-on. It humbles us, strips away illusion, and invites us to listen instead of resist. Every roll is a lesson. Every breath under pressure is a mirror. If we stay long enough, something shifts. The need to prove fades. Control gives way to awareness. Effort becomes flow.
