At Queen’s, preparedness is part of how we care for our patients, visitors, and ‘ohana. 🚑❤️

Our Rapid Response Team partnered with the Honolulu Fire Department for specialized training in safely managing complex falls—situations where a patient or visitor may be injured in a way that requires precise, expert handling. While these events are rare, being ready ensures we can minimize further injury and respond quickly and confidently.

Mahalo to HFD for sharing their expertise and supporting our teams at Queen’s. This community partnership strengthens our commitment to safety, quality, and exceptional care.

Oncology Navigation Day recognizes the extraordinary work of our Oncology Patient Navigators—trusted guides who support patients and families through every step of the cancer journey.

Their impact reaches beyond the hospital. In 2025, our navigators volunteered at several community outreach events, raising awareness about skin, pancreatic, prostate, and breast cancer.

Mahalo to our Oncology Patient Navigators for the compassion, expertise, and hope they bring to our patients and communities. 💙

Queen's ʻohana can! When food insecurity affects nearly one-third of Hawai‘i households—and almost half of families with children—every act of generosity matters.

This November, our Queen’s ‘ohana rallied for the Hawai‘i Foodbank, donating 2,411 pounds of food and $15,000, equivalent to 34,259 meals for local families. Mahalo to everyone who contributed, including our teams at Molokai General Hospital and Queen’s North Hawai‘i. Your compassion makes a real difference in our community. 🥫❤

Queen’s is proud to join the State of Hawai‘i in a new partnership supporting expanded access to health care across Hawai‘i Island. A planned outpatient care center—located next to the future Queen’s hospital in Kailua-Kona—will bring additional clinical and specialty services closer to home, helping reduce travel times and improving continuity of care for families.

As Hawai‘i Island communities continue to grow, this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to strengthening access, supporting providers, and meeting the evolving health care needs of residents across the island.

At the ANCC Magnet & Pathway Conference®, Queen’s nurse leader Melanie Naone, MSN, RN, HNB-BC, CCRN, presented her research on a Novel Approach to Burnout: Micro-practice Bundle. Her study explores how brief mindfulness practices can support emotional resilience and well-being for health care workers.

We’re proud and grateful for Melanie’s leadership and dedication to creating a more mindful, compassionate care environment for our caregivers and patients alike. 💜

Queen’s proudly joined the 2025 Hawai‘i Parkinson Association Walk at Magic Island as a primary sponsor—raising awareness and funds for Parkinson’s care and research. Our team walked in support of those living with Parkinson’s and hosted an interactive resource booth to share education and connect with the community.

Together, we continue to advance compassionate, expert care for those affected by movement disorders. Mahalo to everyone who supported this event! 💙

We are proud to share that The Queen's Medical Center has earned Magnet Recognition® for the fourth time—solidifying our place among only 10% of hospitals nationwide to achieve this honor. 🌟

This recognition celebrates the expertise, compassion, and collaboration of our nurses and caregivers across Queen’s, who embody “Leading Excellence” every day. Mahalo nui to our entire nursing ʻohana for your dedication to advancing patient care in Hawaiʻi and beyond. 💛

Kauaʻi lifeguard Chance Swanson has been discharged from The Queen’s Medical Center after surviving a shark bite at Hanalei Bay. He received initial care at Wilcox Medical Center before being transported to Queen’s—Hawaiʻi’s only Level 1 Trauma Center—where teams across multiple specialties worked together through seven procedures to repair major arterial, muscle, and soft tissue damage.

We’re grateful to Chance’s rescuers, caregivers, and the community for the support surrounding him. We wish him strength and healing as he continues his recovery back home! 🤙💙
