In assisted living, there are stereotypes about the quality of food being less than desirable. However, at Parkhurst Place, we know how much pleasure and joy are derived each day from delicious meals, and our culinary team strives and succeeds every day to debunk those stereotypes by creating dishes from scratch! Here are two of the three delicious meals served on Easter: breakfast was Eggs Benedict with hollandaise sauce and sides of bacon, grapefruit and strawberries. Easter dinner was honey baked ham with apple chutney, sweet potato pecan casserole, green bean casserole and Easter colored deviled eggs, all made from scratch. This fabulous meal was topped off with vanilla cupcakes and butter cream frosting, also made from scratch. The incredible meals served at Parkhurst are a joint effort of a dedicated and passionate team-- Kristi (Food Service Director) made breakfast and dinner, Gina (who shares dual roles as Med Aide and chef) made the deviled eggs at 3:00am on Noc shift the night before, and Heather (Caregiver and chef) crafted the beautiful cupcakes. We love seeing our residents share the joy, comfort and connection with each other sharing great meals and conversation!
