As wildfires continue throughout the state of Oregon, the poor air quality can cause stinging, burning, redness and discomfort.

Those with ocular surface disease (dry eyes, blepharitis, and eye allergies) are most at risk. Follow these tips to keep your eyes comfortable during this time:

Use over-the-counter artificial tears.
Cool your eyes – Keep your artificial tears in the refrigerator or lie down with a cool compress over your eyes.
Stay indoors – Turn on the air conditioning, keep the windows and doors closed, and replace your standard air-conditioner filter to a medium or high efficiency filter.
REMOVE your contact lenses and wear glasses or goggles.
