An unexpected clue behind rising colon cancer in young adults - researchers discovered abnormally stiff colon tissue.
But one question I keep coming back to after reading this research…

What causes this colon tissue to become stiff in the first place?

In the study, researchers found increased collagen buildup and scarring in colon tissue — making it more rigid.

But why does that happen?

We don’t have one clear answer, but factors that may contribute include:

• chronic inflammation
• microbiome imbalances
• repeated irritation or injury
• long-term stress

Over time, this can influence how tissue adapts, repairs, and functions.

From a myofascial perspective, we often see something similar in the body that has experienced stress, trauma, or restriction becomes less mobile and less adaptable.
The body is incredibly interconnected.

Supporting tissue health through Myofascial Release may be one piece of a much bigger picture.

What are your thoughts on this? Had you heard about this research before?

A client reflection shared with permission.

Grief lives in the body in ways many people don’t realize. It can tighten the chest, restrict breathing, and make simply getting through the day feel overwhelming.

After her session she described the experience as feeling “like EMDR for the body.”

People often tell me they feel lighter after their sessions. Things that once felt overwhelming don’t bother them as much.

For this particular client, she shared that she has more motivation to do things again and that her cup feels more full.

Sometimes when the body releases, people feel something they haven’t felt in a long time — space.

Space to breathe.
Space to exist. 🤍
If you’re looking for support beyond talk therapy, Myofascial Release can be a gentle way to help the body process what it’s been holding.

So many people I’m seeing lately are living in a forward posture.

Rounded shoulders.
Tight chest.
Neck tension.
Upper back fatigue.

This simple supported opening can begin to counter that forward pull.

Lie on your bed or another firm surface.
Place the base of your skull (where the neck meets the head) at the edge of the mattress.

Allow the head to gently tip back.
Let your arms open with palms up.

If you feel bracing, pinching, or strain, ease up and bring your head fully back onto the mattress. There should be no forcing.

Let gravity do the work.
Breathe. Soften the body. Let it be heavy.
Notice what you feel.

If your body allows, stay for about five minutes.

And if your shoulders won’t comfortably settle back, that’s usually not just a “tight muscle” issue. It’s often deeper fascial restriction through the front side of the body.

If you’re ready to address the root instead of managing the tension, my next available appointment is March 12th.

Most people don’t realize how much stillness this work requires.

When I place my hands and hold, I’m not forcing change.
I’m listening.

Myofascial Release requires patience. The restrictions people carry didn’t form overnight. They’ve accumulated over years.

The body doesn’t unwind through pressure.
It unwinds when it feels safe.

I follow what I feel. I follow how the tissue responds. I follow what your body is ready to release.

That’s where the deeper layers shift.

Not all “myofascial release” is the same.

Many places advertise MFR but often it’s a type of a deep tissue massage.

The work I practice is the John Barnes approach.

It is slow.
It is sustained.
It is intentional.

We hold restrictions for several minutes, allowing the fascia and nervous system to unwind naturally.

It’s deeper — not because it’s more forceful — but because it works at the root of restriction.

This is why the results last.

If you’re looking for symptom management, massage can be wonderful.

If you’re looking for structural change, that’s where this work comes in.

What is your quality of life worth?

This work isn’t priced like a typical massage.
Because it isn’t one.

It’s specialized nervous-system based therapy designed to create lasting change — not temporary relief.

Pain costs more than money.
It costs energy, experiences, and freedom.

If you’re ready to address the root instead of managing symptoms, I’m here.

Pain is not a sign that your body hates you.

More often, it’s a sign that your system has adapted — bracing, guarding, compensating — to keep you functioning.

Myofascial release works by listening to those protective patterns instead of forcing them to change.

When the body feels safe enough, it no longer needs to hold on.

This is the work I do in my sessions.

If your body feels tired of holding on, appointments are available on my website.

Most of my clients have already tried:
PT.
Chiropractic.
Acupuncture.
Massage.

Sometimes they felt temporary relief — but nothing lasted.

Here’s why.

I don’t just treat the back.

I look elsewhere in the body to understand why the back is under strain.
Often, the pelvis is part of the story.

When the pelvis is off, the body compensates — and the back usually pays the price.

Myofascial release works to rebalance the foundation, not just quiet symptoms.

Lasting change comes from addressing the root.

Many of my clients come in after trying massage, chiropractic, PT, acupuncture.

They don’t need more force.
They need a different conversation with their body.

Myofascial release works with the nervous system and connective tissue to create change that actually lasts.

Thank you for trusting me with your healing. ❤️‍🩹

The body remembers what the mind may move past.
When the nervous system remains in a protective state, patterns of tension can persist.

Myofascial release works gently with the nervous system and fascia, supporting the body in releasing long-held restrictions and returning to its natural state.

This past weekend, I traveled to Portland, ME to take fascial pelvis Myofascial release class. This was probably my 3rd or 4th time taking it within the span of 6 years. I was hesitant on taking it because I felt like I know this class in and out - why would I need to invest more time and money for information I already know?

Boy was I wrong, I learned so many valuable techniques that I completely forgot about!
I also got to meet and connect with so many wonderful therapists including many in the New England area.
Taking this class really lit the fire for me and I’m so excited to get my practice open in southern New Hampshire! Stay tuned for updates!
