Every painted rock along this path marks another day I've stayed sober. I started this tradition when my counselor suggested finding a physical way to track my progress, something tangible I could see and touch when the cravings hit hard. At first, I just painted them plain colors and lined them up by my back door. Nothing fancy, just a daily reminder that I made it through another 24 hours.
The rainbow pattern wasn't planned. I grabbed whatever paint I had lying around, mostly leftover craft supplies from when my kids were little. Some days I'd paint two or three rocks because I needed the distraction, needed something to do with my hands when all I wanted was a drink. Other days I could barely manage to add one small stone to the growing line.
After about six months, neighbors started asking about my colorful rock border. When I explained what it represented, a few people got emotional. One woman told me her son was struggling with addiction and asked if she could take a photo to show him. That's when I realized this little project might help more than just me.
I ended up sharing the idea on the Tedooo app where I'd been browsing through recovery and craft groups. The response overwhelmed me completely. People started ordering custom painted motivation rocks from my newly opened shop there, some wanting specific dates or milestone numbers, others just asking for bright colors to start their own sobriety paths. Parents reached out saying they wanted to help their kids visualize recovery one day at a time.
Now this rock path winds around half my garden. Each stone still represents a sober day, but it's become something bigger too. It's proof that recovery doesn't have to be hidden or shameful. It can be beautiful, colorful, and right there in the open where everyone can see you're fighting to get better.

I don’t really have anyone or a group of friends to blab to so y’all get it.

I talked d to my mama on the phone yesterday. I love her so much and I really do miss her more.

We haven’t talked in 11yrs. My kids have a grandma they don’t even know right now.

All I wanted to do while I talked to my mama was to go home. I just wanna go home and hug my mama.
