Wisdom Wednesday: Avoid financial strain during Christmas. Financial stress and poor mental health are closely linked, creating a negative cycle where financial problems cause stress, anxiety, and depression. Use wisdom when getting gifts this year. Remember to stick to your budget, track your spending and compare prices.

Ways adults are mean to kids at Christmas
1. Scaring them by dressing up like the Grinch
2. Threatening to take away gifts or cancel Christmas
3. Pretending there is a creepy elf watching them and reporting back to Santa about their behaviour.
4. Telling kids they are on the naughty list
5. Asking random children if they’ve been good this year then telling them they won’t get anything if they’re not.

Reminder
I am able to do this work and run this page through the sales of my books, ebooks, workshops and my very popular audiobook.

Everything is very reasonably priced and there are almost always deals on orders with more than one item.

My books make a great gift for friends, family, teachers and co-workers.

I would be so grateful if you could support my small business this year 🙏❤️

Cooking with kids isn’t just about getting dinner on the table 🍽️

In this Calm & Connected episode, Janine Halloran, LMHC, talks with Amy Nesbitt about how food becomes a bridge to connection, culture, confidence, and coping.

Amy shares about:
👩‍🍳 Heritage & tradition – passing down family recipes so grandparents and great-grandparents “live on” in the kitchen
🧠 Life skills & confidence – raising future adults who can cook, care for themselves, and proudly serve their families
🤝 Connection & hospitality – why “breaking bread” is so bonding and how sharing meals opens the door to deeper conversations
🌈 Joy in the chaos – finding creative outlets (like cooking, baking, or yoga at lunch) that bring calm and happiness into busy days

“Food is magic… there’s so much that can happen.” 💛

During a traumatic event, anything associated with the experience may become linked in our brains to the trauma. This can include sounds, smells, situations, feelings, or people that become and/or loss reminders. Download our new infographic here: https://bit.ly/4pSl9vt

It's Freedom Friday: Question? What's holding you back from unleashing your true self? I must admit, I've have worked really hard over the years to break free from the chains of people pleasing. I had the tendency to prioritize the needs of others over my own, but I've learned to rise above it. People pleasing led to overcommitting myself and feeling guilty when I said no. I've since discovered the power of setting healthy boundaries without the weight of guilt. What's one thing you're ready to liberate yourself from? Feel free to share below and let's rise together in freedom. For more information on our services please free to visit our website at www.perduecounseling.com or give us a call at 205.675.0529.
