I’ve been asked my “Why?” more times than I can count.
For those who have been here since the beginning, you know this journey has never just been about tea. It has always been about love. It has always been about my daughter.
What could have easily been a losing fight with our medical care system layered with systemic racism, dismissal, and neglect, became the moment that changed everything.

I was faced with a choice: surrender to fear, or return to what our ancestors have always known.

I chose ancestral wisdom.
I chose plant medicine.
I chose determination.
I chose my child.

In a time when I felt unheard and unseen, I turned inward. I studied herbs. I leaned into traditional remedies. I trusted the knowledge passed down through generations. What began as survival became transformation.

And from that transformation, Herbs and Happiness was born.

This is not just a tea brand.
It is a love story.
It is resistance.
It is reclamation.
It is wellness on our own terms.

Every blend and product is rooted in intention. Every offering is an extension of the promise I made to my daughter, that I would fight for her health, her happiness, and her future.

Love has sustained this vision.
Love has grown this community.
Love continues to guide this work.

The City of Birmingham, in collaboration with Jones Valley Teaching Farm, is proud to announce 10 recipients of the Urban Farmer Grant Program, awarding $10,000 each to local urban farming organizations across our city. Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), these grants support urban farmers addressing pandemic-related operational challenges and longstanding inequities—while strengthening food access, community resilience, and local food systems right here in Birmingham.
Congratulations to all of our 2026 Urban Farmer Grant recipients!
