Student volunteer sign-ups for the SHAA 2026 Convention are still open, and we still have volunteer slots available!

Our student volunteers are essential to the success of the SHAA Convention — we truly could not do this without your dedication and support. We are incredibly grateful for the role students play each year.

• Valuable networking and learning opportunities
• First-come, first-served placement

✨THANK YOU✨

It was an incredible moment for ASHA advocacy November 19, 2025.

🎉 Over 300 communication sciences and disorders professionals came together in Washington, DC to advocate on behalf of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

🙏 Thank you to the professionals from Alabama who gave up their time and expertise to have conversations with our Congressional representatives and staff about issues that matter to Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

🎤 Many voices reflecting the same messages will help to share why we need Congressional representatives to support things that ultimately impact real people who seek the services of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists.

Quest for the cup is an intercollegiate quiz bowl competition among our graduate SLP programs in the state!! Each school selects 5 team members to answer praxis-style MC questions in competition for bragging rights and the trophy to hold until next year’s quiz bowl!!! 🏆 🙌🏼🥇

SHAA 2026 convention registration opens TODAY November 3, 2025! Early bird pricing will end on Jan 9, 2026, any registrations after Jan 9th will be the regular price. If you’re paying via purchase order, register first and have your bookkeeper email admin@alabamashaa.com with all appropriate information.

We are excited to offer Early Bird membership plus Convention package. This includes 1 year of membership with SHAA and the early bird rate all for $325!!

Reminder!! Monday June 30th is last day to get your virtual DEI CEUs‼️

SHAA is pleased to provide members with an opportunity to earn 2 hrs of ✨FREE✨ASHA CEUs through Summer Seminar: DEI.

The online presentations will be available from June 2–30, 2025, and features two presentations options:

* Exploring ASHA’s Resources to Support Responsive Practices in the Association, Discipline, and Professions
* Working with LGBTQIA+ Clients and Colleagues

Please note: You may receive CE credit for 🗣️one 🗣️of the two sessions.

A recent change the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) made to the Medicare Benefit Policy Manual jeopardizes access to care for Medicare beneficiaries and undermines state laws designed to regulate provisional licensees such as speech-language pathology clinical fellows (CFs). It also threatens the livelihood of CFs whose employment relies on the ability to submit claims to payers like Medicare.

Please sign this petition by June 25 to join us in imploring CMS to revise its interpretation of the term “licensure” to include the provisional licensure states issue to new graduates in the process of completing their supervised clinical mentorship: https://at.asha.org/Fv

ASHA is advocating for CMS to update its qualified provider requirements and has asked to meet with CMS staff to walk through the relevant federal and state legislative and regulatory history, explain why provisional licensure must be included in federal personnel qualifications for SLPs, and strongly advocate for their inclusion in Medicare.
