Last night, a few of our members had the opportunity to visit Richmond - Carolina Fire District for EMS training and equipment familiarization.

This collaborative session was all about strengthening teamwork, improving response efficiency, and ensuring the highest level of patient care during medical calls.

A big thank-you to Richmond-Carolina Fire for the warm welcome, and for the generous donation of water for our rehab supplies. We appreciate your support and partnership!

🧊 Safety Tips from Hope Valley Ambulance

🌞 Stay Cool & Hydrated
• Drink at least 8–10 glasses of water daily—more if active or outdoors.
• Avoid alcohol and caffeine—they dehydrate.

❄️ Seek Air-Conditioned or Shaded Areas
• Use your home A/C or visit public cooling centers (check RIEMA for nearest).
• If outdoors, take shady breaks every 15 minutes.

👵 Keep an Eye on Vulnerable People
• Check on elderly relatives, young children, neighbors, and pets—they can’t regulate body temperature well.
• Never leave children or pets unattended in parked vehicles—temperatures inside can spike in just 10 minutes.

🧢 Dress Smart & Slow Down
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and apply SPF 30+ sunscreen.
• Limit strenuous activity to early morning or evening hours.

⚠️ Know the Signs of Heat Illness
• Heat exhaustion: heavy sweating, weakness, headache, nausea. Move to cool place, sip water, cool with damp cloths.
• Heat stroke (life-threatening): very high body temp, confusion, rapid pulse, possible collapse—call 911 immediately.
Our crews stand ready to respond if needed.

📣 We’re Here for You
