Crossroads Clubhouse

Crossroads Clubhouse Our recovery oriented programs help individuals gain self-confidence, build employment skills, and foster relationships.

Crossroads Clubhouse is housed in a turn of the century colonial mansion in Hopedale. It is a warm, inviting environment where we offer adults with a history of mental illness a community that is built on peer support and rehabilitation. Clubhouse members and staff work together in all elements of clubhouse operations. Our β€œwork-ordered day” is the backbone of our program and offers members the op

portunity to engage in the community and build skills such as banking and budgeting skills, food service, newsletter production, and landscaping, while working alongside staff and other members to contribute to the overall goals of Crossroads. We also offer employment and housing support, dual recovery meetings, health & wellness programs, and social events.

You may've seen our recent posts highlighting our Employment progress and what we're working on, but today we decided to switch it up.

We wanted to take a moment to share a delicious lunch that was prepared by staff and members. This is a beautiful pork chop meal, based on a recipe from one of our members, Lucy.

Lunch is one of the most important times of the day. We all enjoy pausing midday to eat, relax, and socialize with the community.

Recently, we switched from using Salesforce to using Flourish. We use this program to manage our data, perform data entry, and empower our members to use technology, as well as enhance their skills.

This is a new program designed by Clubhouses for Clubhouses, where a better connection is provided, skills are improved, and even when things seem overwhelming, Flourish makes it simple and easy.

Here you can see screen grabs of the Flourish program as well as Beth and Becca doing data entry using Flourish. They found it easy to use and easy to access, and they don't get overwhelmed when doing different kinds of work, such as Attendance and Reachout.

Having a busy workday? Need a sweet treat or a cold refreshing drink?
Our cafe is the place to be!

Our workdays can be busy, and sometimes having the chance to grab a snack and reenergize or even sit for 5 minutes and enjoy a coffee can make all the difference.

Here you can see Morgan and Tim serving up at the Cafe, where you always receive service with a smile.

With their recent training at Genesis Clubhouse, both our Employment Specialist, Talia and our member Courtney, are hard at work, putting the plan together that they constructed at their training. From building an employment-focused space to redesigning the Employment Board, they've been working diligently each day to work towards completing their Action Plan for the clubhouse.

As our previous post stated, we had some folks complete a week of Employment Training at Genesis Clubhouse last week (6/9-6/13). At this training, they were able to tour Worcester, learn the importance of structured TE and SE programs, and even visit two of Genesis' members at their TE's job sites.

Thank you to Genesis and its members who made our colleagues feel welcome and let them stay at their beautiful Guest House, as well as made sure everyone got what they needed from this training.

On Wednesday, May 28th, our Employment Specialist, Talia, and our CLS Vice President, Don, went to Riverside's ACCS (Adult Community Clinical Services) building to present them with the Spirit of Riverside Award from Crossroads. There was a pizza party and a small celebration to acknowledge how easy it has been to work alongside them. From their flexibility with changing employees to their timeliness in assisting us with any issues employees may have, they have been a crucial part of our employment program, helping members find wellness through work.

It was an honor on Wednesday to host Congressman Jake Auchincloss, a Democrat representing the great state of Massachusetts, and State Rep. Brian Murray. They came for a tour of the facility and spoke with Melody B., a member of Crossroads and a Board member of Riverside Community Care, as well as executives and directors of Riverside.

They spoke about potential Medicaid cuts and their impact on the people who use Riverside services. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to meet with us

On Saturday, May 17th, we participated in the NAMI Walks in Boston! This event was not just a walk; it represented unity, advocacy, and hope. May is , which is about coming together as a community and advocating and showing support for individuals with mental illness, their family, their loved ones, and their community.

Seeing everyone, walking together, and enjoying ourselves while we supported a great cause was a wonderful time. NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness) is a national mental health organization that hosts this annual event across the country.

Participating in this event by walking demonstrates your support, helps raise awareness, and contributes to reducing stigma. Some of us walked to show support for others and our community, while some of us walked to show support to ourselves.

Why do you walk?

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it highlights the importance of mental wellbeing, educates the public, reduces stigma, and promotes support for those affected by mental health conditions. We wear green, as it represents hope, renewal and resilience, to show our support.

Raising awareness about mental health is crucial for reducing stigma, encouraging early intervention, and promoting empathy and understanding. Despite advancements in mental health initiatives, more than 30 million people in the U.S. still do not have access to comprehensive, high-quality care.

A few weeks ago on April 23rd, there was an Employment Celebration at the Massachusetts Statehouse in Boston. This annual event is hosted each Spring by the MCC (Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition) to honor the companies who choose to diversify their workforce. We say a huge thank you to DMH (Department of Mental Health) for partnering with us to create a TE (Transitional Employment) at their local office.

On that day, one of our members, Melody B., gave a speech speaking from lived experience on how her TE changed her life. Transformational Employment was what she referred to her "TE" as, as it helped her transform herself, her life, and how she sees her future. Crossroads is very proud to have Melody as a member and can't wait to see what life has in store for her!

We had a wonderful time celebrating and seeing everyone. ☺
