As school resumes, we all need a few reminders on reducing stress.
1. Practicing Deep Breathing: I often recommend a simple breathing technique: inhale for 3 seconds, then exhale slowly for 5 seconds. This gentle rhythm helps regulate your body and calms your nervous system, creating space for relaxation and clarity. đ§đž
2. Setting boundaries: Establishing clear boundaries in your relationships and personal life is essential for protecting your well-being and ensuring youâre treated with respect. It means knowing what youâre comfortable with and what youâre not and confidently communicating those limits to both yourself and others. Boundaries arenât walls; theyâre guidelines for healthy connection.
3. Exercise regularly: Stretching, walking, hitting the gym, running, yoga, Pilatesâthese are all great ways to reduce stress and boost your well-being. But remember, itâs not about keeping up with anyone else. You get to set the pace that works for you. Aim to move your body for at least 20 minutes a dayâit can make a big difference. đđžââď¸
4. Taking breaks: Taking just 15â20 minutes to reflect, using a mental health day, pausing during your day to check in with yourself, or even taking a vacation for a full resetâthese are all valuable ways to care for your mental well-being.
