😂 The Healing Power of Humor 🌟

Laughter isn’t just a reaction—it’s medicine for the mind and body. Even in challenging times, finding a moment to smile can help shift our perspective and remind us we’re not alone.

So today, share a joke, watch something funny, or simply smile at someone—it might be exactly the lift you both need.

🚜 The Hidden Crisis in Our Fields 🌾

Su***de rates in the farming and agricultural community are rising—and it's not just a statistic. It’s our neighbors, our friends, and our families.

Farmers face relentless stressors: financial strain, unpredictable weather, isolation, generational pressure, and limited access to mental health care. Too often, these burdens are carried in silence.

💬 Sometimes, a simple question—"How are you really doing?"—can be the first step toward saving a life.

We must break the stigma around mental health in rural communities. Let’s normalize reaching out, offering support, and ensuring resources are accessible to those who feed the world.

If you work in agriculture, support those who do, or live in a rural community—please know: You’re not alone. Help is available.

📣 It starts with a conversation.

💙 Being a therapist is hard.

If you’re a therapist, give yourself the same compassion you so freely offer to others. You’re doing meaningful work, and it’s okay to need care too.

"I cannot see 15–25 clients a week and be healthy.

Therapy is exhausting for me. Not just in a this is a hard job way, but in a “this job asks me to co-regulate for hours while holding trauma, grief, identity, and systemic harm” way.

It’s not just about boundaries or time blocking. So many folks blame therapists for "not scheduling appropriately" or having poor boundaries. Some of us just don’t have the nervous system capacity to hold that much. That’s not a personal failing.

Some therapists can do more and feel fine. That’s real and awesome for them! But capacity isn’t a moral issue. Needing rest doesn’t make you less of a clinician, it makes you human.

We talk a lot about side gigs to diversify income, but most therapists are doing that on top of full caseloads. It’s not sustainable.

Therapists and social workers have so many skills that go underused because of productivity expectations. Hire us for admin. Outreach. Program design. We can do way more than sit in a therapy room, and we should be allowed to.

As school resumes, we all need a few reminders on reducing stress.

As school resumes, we all need a few reminders on reducing stress.

1. Practicing Deep Breathing: I often recommend a simple breathing technique: inhale for 3 seconds, then exhale slowly for 5 seconds. This gentle rhythm helps regulate your body and calms your nervous system, creating space for relaxation and clarity. 🧘🏾

2. Setting boundaries: Establishing clear boundaries in your relationships and personal life is essential for protecting your well-being and ensuring you’re treated with respect. It means knowing what you’re comfortable with and what you’re not and confidently communicating those limits to both yourself and others. Boundaries aren’t walls; they’re guidelines for healthy connection.

3. Exercise regularly: Stretching, walking, hitting the gym, running, yoga, Pilates—these are all great ways to reduce stress and boost your well-being. But remember, it’s not about keeping up with anyone else. You get to set the pace that works for you. Aim to move your body for at least 20 minutes a day—it can make a big difference. 🏃🏾‍♂️

4. Taking breaks: Taking just 15–20 minutes to reflect, using a mental health day, pausing during your day to check in with yourself, or even taking a vacation for a full reset—these are all valuable ways to care for your mental well-being. There are countless other approaches, but the most important thing is finding healthy ways to gain mental clarity. It’s not just helpful it’s essential 😁
