What's happening to our city right now isn't law enforcement, and it certainly isn’t about immigration. It's state-sponsored terrorism.
ICE is treating our city, our community, and our neighborhoods like a warzone. They’re conducting military-style raids with poorly trained men and women who have zero accountability, oversight, and regard for human life. Because of their ineptitude, they’ve now killed two innocent UNITED STATES CITIZENS in the process. This is about power. This is about control. This is about making people afraid to exist in their own communities.
I have read that ICE is “just following the law” and that we are the ones obstructing them. Bu****it. If the law enables the abduction of parents in front of their children, and the assault and battery of peaceful protesters, then the law needs changing. People should not be afraid to go to work, or to school, or to the fu***ng grocery store.
Let me be absolutely clear: I do not give a s**t what your politics are. Right vs. Left does not matter when armed federal agents are pulling people from their homes, storming businesses, and creating an atmosphere of terror in our streets. This is not what the United States of America was founded on. This is fascism.
Minneapolis is my home. It’s your home. It was Renee Good’s home. It was Alex Pretti’s home. Say their names and do not let them be forgotten. Silence is no longer an option. To the many Fortune 500 businesses who also call Minneapolis and the Twin Cities their home, it’s time to stop being afraid of the despot who thinks himself a dictator.
Leaders are supposed to lead. Do something. Your city is watching.
