When you have a cavity, we will usually follow these general steps to restore your tooth:
Our team will apply a local anesthetic to numb the area around the affected tooth, ensuring the procedure is comfortable. We carefully remove decayed portions of the tooth to prevent further damage. Once the decay is removed, we will clean the cavity to ensure no debris or bacteria remains, which could lead to further problems. Then, we will fill the cleaned cavity and shape the filling to restore your tooth’s natural contour and ensure proper bite alignment. While many people like lemon water for its refreshing taste and health benefits, but it can come with a downside for your teeth. The acidity of lemon juice can wear down enamel over time, leading to sensitivity and increasing the risk of cavities. But don’t worry — you can still enjoy it!

Here’s a tip from Hopkinton Dental Assoc PC: Drink lemon water occasionally rather than all day long, and try using a straw to keep the acidity away from your teeth. Rinsing with water afterward also helps balance pH levels in your mouth. And remember, wait at least 30 minutes before brushing, so you don’t brush softened enamel away.
