Desire Without Action Is Only Wishful Thinking

Good Morning,

I pray today brings you moments of peace and strength. Even on the days that feel heavy, please remember that you are still here, still valuable, and still worthy of joy. Depression may try to dim your light, but it does not define who you are. You have purpose, you have meaning, and the world is better because you are in it.

Take today one step at a time—small victories still count. Hold on to hope, even if it’s just a little spark. Better days are ahead, and you don’t have to walk this journey alone.

You matter. You are loved. You are needed.
May hope rise within you today.

Mississippi Residents: If you have a child with a Disability including Autism, ADHD, sign them up. You can drop them from your Private Insurance and save money here. (I Suggest).

The Katie Beckett Program – formerly known as Disabled Child Living at Home (DCLH) – is a special eligibility category that allows certain disabled children who are residents of Mississippi with long-term disabilities or complex medical needs, living at home with their families, to obtain Mississippi Medicaid eligibility.

General Information

Qualification is not based on a diagnosis or disability alone, but the child’s medically documented institutional level of care needs from the preceding 12 months.
Benefits cannot be provided to a child whose need is shared by all children of the same age.
A parent or legal guardian may reapply at any time, if the child’s medical condition changes significantly.
Who is Eligible for Katie Beckett?

Children who are not eligible for other Medicaid programs because the income or assets of their parents are too high may be eligible for Medicaid through the Katie Beckett category of eligibility. A child must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:

The child is under 19 years of age and determined to be disabled using Social Security disability rules.
Requires a level of care at home that is typically provided in a hospital or nursing facility or intermediate care facility for the intellectually disabled.
Can be provided safe and appropriate care in the family home.
As an individual, does not have income or assets in his or her name in excess of the current standards for a child living in an institution.
Does not incur a cost at home to the Medicaid Program that exceeds the cost Medicaid would pay if the child were in an institution.
This program is in compliance with federal regulations: 42 CFR §§435.225, 409.31-409.34, 440.10, 440.150, and 483.440.

Thought I'd share this info here. A couple of programs that can help.

The IDD Medicaid waiver is a program for individuals with disabilities to get services including day programs, in home supports, skilled nursing, and group homes. The waitlist is unfortunately 10 years long (literally) but getting your child on it now could help a lot down the road! The program is free and based on disability, not income. You can contact the Medicaid office to get a paper application emailed to you. Here's a link to more info:

Next is the Katie Beckett program or Disabled Child at Home. This program allows disabled children to get Medicaid based on disability status rather than financial. It's another paper application you can get from the Medicaid office. Also, they will require a loooooottttt of documentation from any doctor, psychologist, therapist etc that your child has seen. Send everything you can get your hands on! Here's more info:

Finally, children with disabilities are able to apply for SSI. This one IS income based but can help with financial support if you qualify. If your child is over 18, they may qualify for SSDI as well.

Yall feel free to contact me if you have any questions!

🌱 Growth Mindset

Pause on texting first. You’ll learn who’s truly connected and who you’ve been watering with no growth in return.

11/29/2025

Sometimes you have to stop reaching out first. That’s when you’ll see who was growing with you—and who was just draining your water.

“Stop texting people first. You’ll quickly realize how many dead plants you’ve been watering.”
