Elcor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center is a privately owned and administered long-term care facility specializing in providing family choices for over thirty years.
*Skilled Nursing Care - or SNF - provides 24 hour skilled nursing attention for the chronically ill in our Hickory Knoll, Colonial Ridge and Maple Creek buildings.
*Adult Day Care - An alternative to full-time care, the Adult Daytyme Program provides respite care for senior adults during the day, enabling them to return home at night to be with family members.
Elcor Nursing Home, now known as Colonial Ridge, was built in 1965 when Lester Poes - a former builder and contractor - came to Horseheads. The building was expanded from a 65-bed to a 105-bed facility when the North Wing was added in 1970.
The health-related facility, Maple Creek, opened its doors on December 26, 1978, to fill an ever-growing community need. Daytyme was added in 1980 to provide additional services for care needs in the Elmira-Corning area.
In 1989, Hickory Knoll, a skilled nursing facility of 80 beds was opened, bringing us to a total of 305 beds in all. This modern, bright facility connected our buildings and included a staff cafeteria, and a large, modern kitchen.
To this day expansion continues at Elcor, to help us look toward a successful future as a facility. In the fall of 2019, we opened the doors to our new, improved Rehabilitation and Therapy department containing state-of-the-art equipment and a 4000-square-foot gym.
We offer our residents a number of outdoor areas where they can enjoy fresh air and nature in a safe, supervised setting, and an array of fulfilling activities aimed at providing purposeful recreational and social activities for each one of our residents.
