Long-term care goes beyond what Medicare covers. π‘
It includes help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting. These are considered custodial care needs, not skilled nursing.
Long-term care insurance plans usually have an elimination period, which is a short waiting time before coverage begins, typically 60 to 90 days. You can choose how much coverage you want, such as $200 per day or $6,000 per month, and how long you want it to last β one year, five years, or for life. Each choice affects your monthly premium.
