🌟 It's Team Tuesday, and today we're shining the spotlight on Angela, our amazing Receptionist at SCT / VGPT!
Angela is often the first friendly face (and voice!) you encounter when you walk through our doors or give us a call — and she brings warmth, professionalism, and a whole lot of heart to everything she does. 💚
Get to know Angela a little better:
✈️ Dream Destination: Italy — all the way from the Dolomites in the north down to Sicily. She'd love to walk the lands where her ancestors were born!
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Perfect Day Off: Spending quality time with her husband, kids, and grandkids.
📺 Currently Watching: The Amazing Race — she's living vicariously through every contestant traveling the world!
🎶 Bucket List: Seeing Andrea Bocelli or Josh Groban live in concert.
🥩 Skill She'd Love to Master: Cooking the perfect grilled steak.
😅 Pet Peeve: Incorrect verb tenses. (You saw something. You didn't seen it. 😄)
We are so grateful to have Angela on our team! Her dedication to our patients and her cheerful spirit make SCT / VGPT a better place every single day. 🙌

🧠 MYTHBUSTING MONDAY
❌ Myth: Physical therapists are basically the same as personal trainers.
✅ Truth: Physical therapists are highly trained medical professionals.

All physical therapists must:
🎓 Complete a 3-year doctoral program (Doctor of Physical Therapy – DPT) 📚 Pass a national licensing exam 📖 Maintain ongoing continuing education 🧠 Train extensively in anatomy, biomechanics, pathology, and rehabilitation

PTs are healthcare providers and movement specialists trained to:
• Diagnose movement dysfunction • Treat injury and post-surgical conditions • Manage chronic and neurological conditions • Develop rehabilitation plans based on medical complexity
Personal trainers play an important role in fitness and wellness — but physical therapists are uniquely trained to work with pain, injury, medical diagnoses, and recovery.

If you’re dealing with pain, mobility limitations, or recovering from surgery, a PT’s medical training matters.

Movement is our specialty — but healing is our profession.

⏱️ FAQ Friday ⏱️
How soon should I start physical therapy after an injury?

Sooner is usually better. 👌

Starting physical therapy early can help reduce pain, prevent long-term issues, and get you back to doing what you love faster. Our physical therapists can evaluate your injury, begin treatment, and guide you on next steps—referring you to a physician if needed.
Don’t wait for an injury to become a chronic problem.

🧠 MYTHBUSTING MONDAY
❌ Myth: I need a doctor’s referral to see a physical therapist.
✅ Truth: In most states, you can see a physical therapist without a referral.
It’s called Direct Access — and it allows patients to start PT sooner, without waiting for a physician appointment.
That means if you’re dealing with:
• Back or neck pain • Shoulder or knee issues • Balance problems • Dizziness • Chronic aches • Or movement concerns
You can often schedule directly with a PT.
⚠️ A few important notes: • Some insurance plans (like Medicare) may require a referral for coverage. • Many private insurance plans do not. • It’s always smart to check your benefits first.
The biggest takeaway?
You don’t necessarily have to wait to start feeling better.
Early treatment often means faster recovery.

🌟 It's Who's Who Wednesday at VGPT! 🌟
This week we're shining the spotlight on one of our amazing team members — Kayla Williams, PTA at VGPT East! 💪
Kayla has been part of the VGPT family for nearly two years, and if you've been to our East clinic, you already know she brings the energy, the laughs, and the heart every single day. She got into physical therapy for the best reason there is — to help others — and she proves that every time she helps a patient get back on their feet (literally!).
Her specialty? Knees. Her superpower? Watching patients make real, meaningful improvements and knowing she played a part in that journey. 🙌
Outside the clinic, Kayla is a full-time sports mom (self-described "unpaid taxi driver" 🚕😂) cheering on her 10-year-old, and when she's not on the sidelines, you'll find her dragging her husband and son up and down the mountain trails of Arkansas. 🏔️
We are so grateful to have you on our team, Kayla! Our patients are lucky to have someone who cares as much as you do. ❤️
👇 Drop a ❤️ in the comments if Kayla has been part of your care team!

It's , and we're thrilled to introduce the amazing Tami Hill, our Chief Accounting Officer! 🤩
Tami is one of the friendly faces behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly at SCT/VGPT. With an incredible 36 years in the medical field, her expertise is a cornerstone of our team.
But there's more to Tami than just numbers! Here are a few fun facts:🕵️‍♀️ She was once on an episode of "Unsolved Mysteries"!🗽 Her bucket list includes a trip to the Big Apple - New York City.🛒 Her biggest pet peeve? People who stop their carts in the middle of the grocery aisle (we can all relate! 😉).
When she's not at the clinic, you might find her flea marketing or curled up with a good book. Next time you're in, be sure to say hello to Tami!

🧠 MYTHBUSTING MONDAY

❌ Myth: Physical Therapy is painful. (“It’s just pain and torture!”)
✅ Truth: Physical therapists work to minimize pain — not cause it.

Let’s clear this up:
The “no pain, no gain” motto does NOT apply to physical therapy.
Yes, you may feel mild discomfort when rebuilding strength or mobility — especially if a joint has been stiff or a muscle hasn’t been used in a while. But therapy should never feel like punishment.
Your physical therapist:
✔ Works within your comfort threshold
✔ Adjusts exercises based on your response
✔ Monitors pain levels carefully
✔ Focuses on safe, progressive healing

The goal is recovery — without unnecessary suffering.
If you’ve avoided PT because you’re worried it will hurt, we understand. But modern physical therapy is individualized, collaborative, and designed around your body.
Healing shouldn’t feel like torture.

💧 Wellness Wednesday Tip: Hydration = Healing

Did you know that even mild dehydration can contribute to muscle cramps, fatigue, and headaches? When your body doesn’t have enough water, your muscles and joints have to work harder — and recovery can slow down.

Staying hydrated helps:
✔️ Support muscle function
✔️ Improve circulation and recovery
✔️ Reduce fatigue and headaches
✔️ Keep your joints moving smoothly

💡 Simple tip: Aim to drink about half your body weight (in pounds) in ounces of water each day.

Example:
If you weigh 180 lbs, aim for about 90 oz of water daily.

Small habits like proper hydration can make a big difference in how you feel, move, and recover.

💬 Question for you:
Do you struggle to drink enough water during the day?

Drop your favorite hydration trick below! 👇

🧠 MYTHBUSTING MONDAY
❌ Myth: Physical Therapy is only for injuries and accidents.
✅ Truth: Physical therapy treats far more than just injuries.
While PT is great for sprains, surgeries, and accidents… that’s only part of what we do.
Physical therapists also help with:
• Arthritis & joint pain • Balance problems & fall prevention • Vertigo & dizziness • Pelvic floor dysfunction • Neurological conditions (stroke, Parkinson’s, neuropathy) • Heart disease complications • Long COVID symptoms • Chronic headaches & neck pain • And so much more
At its core, physical therapy is about optimizing movement and function — whether you're recovering from something acute or managing a long-term condition.
You don’t have to “wait until you’re injured” to benefit from PT.
If something feels off, stiff, weak, unstable, or painful — that’s your sign to ask questions.
📍 We’re here to help you move better, feel stronger, and live more confidently.

😂 FAQ Friday 😂
What should I wear to my PT appointment?
Somewhere between black-tie gala and 1980s fitness competition is the sweet spot. 😉
We recommend comfortable workout clothes you can move in and don’t mind getting a little sweaty. Think shorts, sweatpants, t-shirts, or tank tops—whatever helps you move freely and feel comfortable during your session.
No tuxedos. No extreme gym costumes. Just comfy, practical movement-friendly gear. 💪
