On January 11th, at 6pm we will have a guest speaker at our EMT course which is also open to the public. The lecture will be at the Hot Springs Fire Hall.

The speaker will talk about su***de awareness and prevention. Montana has been in the top 5 states for su***des and its time we do something about it.
The speaker was a deputy sheriff in Roosevelt County when his 13 year old son committed su***de. Since then he has been travling Montana teaching Q.P.R, going over the statistics, and how the lack of behavioral health is here in Montana. The Q.P.R teaches you how to ask questions, persuade, and refer for someone who is!

Please spread the word, he is coming all the way from Billings area and this is such an important topic!

If you are interested please email jcarlbom@whitelinetraining.com or message on here so we can get a head count. This is a great course for all family members of all ages, teachers, coaches, etc.

Yesterday Hot Springs Ambulance had our state inspection on the ambulance.

This inspection makes sure the neccassary supplies are on board and that the ambulance itself is in good working condition. We passed the inspection and are good for another 2 years !

Hot Springs Ambulance completed an EMT refresher course this weekend.

Every 2 years, EMS personnel are required to renew their license, and must have certain numbers of continuing education hours as well as a refresher course. This year we had Whiteline Consulting and Training do the refresher.

The weekend consisted of lectures, hands on practice and scenerios. The lectures were on O.B, communications, dispatch operations, protocols, scene safety, compassion/ professionalism, and I.V. review.

We had several community members who came in and played a patient for the scenrios, and we would like to thank them for giving up their Saturday to help us!

Safety of our patients is always a priority, and Hot Springs Ambulance just added a new safety feature for our littlest patients.

Recently purchased, the Pedimate Plus attaches to the cot, and makes an instant "car seat". This allows the EMTs to have full access to the patient, while providing a safe ride.

Its been a full day of training today! This morning the EMS crew went to the Hot Springs High School and talked to some seniors about the EMS career. This was followed by some hands on experiance for a couple of the students that we made honorary EMTs and had to respond to a truama patient. Then we taught them how to control bleeding and apply tourniquets.

Then at the monthly meeting tonight, the EMS crew practiced truama scenerios. Making the scenerios as real as possible helps the crew keep up their skills and learn from each other on new tips and tricks.

EMT scholarship announcement

As CEO of Whiteline Consulting and Training I am proud to announce 2 scholarships made possible by Jason Acheson!

The two scholarships are:

Scholarships 1. Completely free course including book.
Scholarships 2. You pay for the course but the book ( valued at $230) will be paid for.

To apply: send an essay of why you want to be an EMT. We are looking for people who are compassionate to help people and their local community. As well as what your goals are for being an EMT. Email essay to jcarlbom@whitelinetraining.com by Sept 13th.

Here is what Jason had to say on why he is putting his money towards yoir education!

How I became an EMT.

For a combination of 20 years I've worked in public service. Law Enforcement, Security, Military, and Corrections. I have always had a curiosity about becoming an EMT but I never chose to pursue it before. Recently, I was given an opportunity to attend a training course with the Hot Springs Community Ambulance who sponsored my class enrollment. Upon attending I found out right away that the training itself was very demanding and time-consuming, but it was absolutely worth every hour and every penny spent! The knowledge and skills obtained during training are invaluable. The doors that opened for career advancement are almost limitless. One of the best feelings I ever had was passing my skills test and my exam for the Montana State Board of Medical Examiners in order to get my license. My sense of pride and accomplishment was compounded when I took and passed my National Registry (NREMT). I have to say the best reward of all from my experiences was that it has not only helped me to be a better public servant with my other chosen professions, but it has also helped me to become a more compassionate and understanding human being. I truly believe that everybody should experience an EMT course. Even if it's not a career field that you choose in life, the skills you receive are life saving and they can not be measured. One day those skills could honestly save the life of somebody you love. I am honored to provide these 2 scholarships in hopes that others may donate to this cause, as well as give someone an opportunity of a life time ! Remeber there are payment plans so this course is affordable!! Thank you! Jason- EMT, Hot Springs Community Ambulance
