Dr. Kristen Sager, medical oncologist at Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute, shares what to look for and why early detection matters.

Melanoma doesn’t always look the way people expect — and sometimes small changes are the most important ones to notice.

Congratulations to our nurse practitioner Virginia Laliberte, for completing her training to become a Certified Genetic Cancer Risk Assessment Provider!

With this certification, Virginia can offer specialized care and services to her patients to help them better understand inherited cancer risks. Some of these services include performing genomic focused health assessments, developing plans of care and ordering appropriate genetic testing, and providing counseling and health teaching to patients and families.

We are proud to work with you, Virginia!

Congratulations to Dr. Divers for presenting on the landmark "COA Quality of Care Study" during this week's 2026 Community Oncology Alliance (COA) Conference!

This groundbreaking study, in partnership with COA and Flatiron Health, found that cancer patients experience longer survival in community oncology settings.

“Survival is the gold standard of cancer care’s effectiveness, and this research underscores community oncology’s ability to deliver high-quality outcomes, with both convenience and personal care,” said Stephen Divers, MD, a member of COA’s board, and medical oncologist and hematologist at Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute in Hot Springs, Ark. “Receiving a cancer diagnosis is never easy, so it can be reassuring for a patient to know they’re in good hands at a community oncology practice.”

We are proud to work with you, Dr. Divers!

An inspiring evening for an extraordinary cause ✨

Last Thursday, the American Cancer Society hosted the 2026 Honoree Reveal Party for the Best Dressed Ball in Little Rock. We are proud to share that Genesis’ own Dr. Sunil Kakadia was named one of this year’s distinguished honorees.

This campaign supports vital research, patient resources, and the ongoing fight to end cancer as we know it. We recently had the opportunity to attend the Arkansas Nurse Practitioner Association conference, where we got to meet and speak with APRNs from all over Arkansas! We shared information about our services and providers, including the addition of our new endocrinologist, Dr. Daryl Burrows and his APRN, Natalie Brown. The team at Genesis Cancer and Blood Institute is made up of individuals who show up every day with a shared commitment—to ensure every patient feels genuinely cared for, treated with compassion, and respected from their very first visit and throughout their entire journey with us.

There are moments when members of our team go far beyond their daily responsibilities to make sure a patient feels heard, supported, and truly cared for. To recognize those meaningful efforts, we created the HOPE (Helping Our Patients with Ease) Award.

The HOPE Award honors team members who go above and beyond to bring comfort, calm, and reassurance to our patients during some of life’s most uncertain moments. Cancer can make the world feel overwhelming—but there are those among us who have a special gift for easing that burden. Whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or simply being present, they help our patients feel supported, safe, and cared for. These individuals don’t just provide care—they provide peace of mind. They help our patients breathe a little easier.

We are proud to recognize our first three HOPE Award recipients, who truly embody the heart of what this honor represents: Maddie Grisham, Assistant Office Manager; Alyssa McDonald, RN; and Shawna Thacker, Lead Financial Counselor.

Thank you for the compassion, dedication, and heart you bring to our patients every single day.
