🔍 Here's what I assess on every baby that comes through our doors:
1. Latch & oral ties: If nursing feels like a struggle, baby is clicking, or can't get a deep latch, tension in the jaw, tongue, and neck is usually part of the story.
2. Cervical spine mobility: The neck takes the most stress during delivery. Restrictions here can cause baby to favor one side or struggle to latch on both breasts.
3. Cranial tension: Newborn skull bones are designed to move during birth. Sometimes they need a little help, affecting sleep and how settled baby feels overall.
4. Sacral torsion: When the sacrum is restricted, the entire digestive system feels it. This is often the root of constipation, trapped gas, and that uncomfortable bloated belly.
5. Nervous system tone: The foundation for everything. Sleep, feeding, digestion, and overall ease all depend on a calm, regulated nervous system.
If your baby is struggling with any of these, their body may just be asking for a little support. 🤍
