Itās been almost two yearsājust a few days before Christmasāsince we found out that our 9 month old son had four tumors & was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer. I remember seeing commercials about cancer but never truly grasped what it meant for a family to live through it. Now, I know all too wellāthe treatments, the medications, the side effects, the constant hospital stays & appointments.
As a first-time parent, we faced unimaginable decisions, ones no parent should ever have to make. When we went to the hospital in January 2023 to start his chemotherapy, we sat through several meetings to develop a treatment plan. We were handed a packet of paperwork to review and sign, detailing possible side effects from the chemoāeffects that could shape Kacenās future. Iāll never forget reading every single side effect until I just couldnāt go on. Having to trust strangers with my own flesh & blood is a different type of pain. Weāre very blessed so say our son is now declared cancer free & has remained cancer free for almost a year & a half. If thereās one piece of advice I could give anyone, it would be to please not hesitate to get looked at if you or anyone you know is having weird symptoms. I know itās scary when it comes to topics like this but it could very well save your life.
