We were glad to support the Mountain Toppers Healthy Aging program with lunch from The Bistro for participants and appreciate the opportunity to be part of this great community event.

Thank you to Alleghany Highlands Regional Library, YMCA of the Alleghany Highlands, and ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice for hosting this monthly program and continuing to provide valuable education and resources for our community.

March is National Women’s History Month, a time to recognize the strong and determined women who helped shape our communities.

This month, we are proud to honor Gladys Ingalls Robertson, whose vision helped establish the first Red Cross Rural Nursing Association in the United States right here in Hot Springs in 1913.

Through her leadership, the Hot Springs Valley Nursing Association brought visiting nurse services to families across Bath County at a time when access to medical care could require nearly a full day’s journey. In 1916, the Community House was built to serve as headquarters for the nursing service and as a gathering place for the community. Over time, this effort grew into what is now Bath Community Hospital.

More than a century later, her dedication to improving access to care continues to inspire our mission today.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this month’s Caregiver Connection last night. We appreciate you taking the time to come out and be part of such a meaningful conversation. ❤️

A special thank you to Sandra McHenry, MD, Healthy Highlands Program Lead with the YMCA of the Alleghany Highlands, for leading an informative and engaging discussion.

Be sure to mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 15, as Delaine Caldwell, Manager of Elder Rights with the Local Office on Aging, will be here to discuss the GUIDE Program. Stay tuned for more details!

Allyson “Ally” Martin, a radiology student at the University of Charleston, is currently in the first year of the program’s two-year Radiologic Technology program. Bath Community Hospital (B*H) was her first clinical site, where she has gained valuable hands-on experience in a clinical setting.

During her time at B*H, Ally has assisted with a variety of diagnostic radiology exams, provided compassionate care to patients of all ages, and gained experience in a multi-modality imaging environment.

📷 Pictured: In between patients, Ally is practicing positioning and performing the “scapular Y” view, a specialized projection used to evaluate the shoulder, with guidance from Jessica Rucker, Radiologic Technologist, and Kathy Elmore, Radiology Manager.

We’re glad to play a role in supporting the education and training of future healthcare professionals and wish Ally continued success in her radiology journey.

March is National Nutrition Month, a time to focus on how the foods we eat support our overall health and well-being.

Good nutrition isn’t about perfection. It’s about balance, variety, and making choices that work for you and your lifestyle.

Small changes can make a big difference over time. 🥦🍎
