This week is Laboratory Professionals Week and HealthStar has a team of outstanding ones! This week we recognize Laboratory Professionals and their valuable contributions directly impacting clinical and public health.

Curious about what they do? Here are some examples:

🩸These scientists work on instruments that process health tests from all HealthStar locations. They run blood tests on your iron count, immunoassays such as HIV, Hepatitis and Vitamin D.

🧬 They also have a microbiology department where they run PCR, STD, along with manually reading out strep plates, wet preps, and urine microscopics. A lot of training went into developing this lab!

😷 All those COVID tests you received at HealthStar? They are processed here. To say they’ve been working hard these last few years is an understatement!

Food Safety Alert: CDC is investigating a norovirus outbreak linked to raw oysters from British Columbia, Canada. Restaurants and retailers should not sell the potentially contaminated raw oysters from certain sources. Norovirus is the leading cause of foodborne illness in the United States. The most common symptoms are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain.
