Spring Creek NC Blood Drives

First, thank you to our loyal blood donors who have supported our drives at the Spring Creek Community center. We have been a small, but mighty group of lifesavers!

We have some news regarding the future of our community blood drives. We have been working with The Blood Connection in coordinating drives for 8 years now. Our TBC coordinator, Jordan, has been a great support and friend. He has communicated to us that The Blood Connection has recently gone through a restructuring of its procedures, and Jordan is involved more in the administrative end of the organization than before.

For a long time now, I have been asking donors to please sign up ahead of our drives for better planning and staffing purposes. This pre-sign-up was requested by the TBC admin and the goal number was always 27 donors pre-signup for mobile blood drives. For a long time, they have overlooked that policy with regard to our drives, hoping for walk-in donors and were willing to come here, with far less promise of participation.

Unfortunately, with their new procedure structure in place, we will only be able to host drives in our community if the 27 potential donor sign-ups are met at least one week prior to our event. We/they understand that all 27 signed up, may not be viable donors on the day, sometimes donors are turned away the day of for health reasons, medications, recent immunizations, etc.
The requirement is only to have 27 potential donors signed up.
The drive that was scheduled for June 7th during the vendor market is cancelled. Our next drive will be tentatively scheduled for Saturday, October 4th. Please, please, sign up ahead for Oct 4th!

If you have not donated blood with TBC before, please consider supporting our cause. One unit of donated blood has the potential to save three lives, and these donations remain in WNC. Must be at least 16 yrs old (minors with a signed parental consent form) to donate.

🌶️Entries need to be delivered to the gym between 10-11am. People’s Choice 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place will be announced at 3pm.

🥣Come HUNGRY!! $5 for “all you can eat” samples plus one full bowl. AND a vote for best chili!

🩸Save a life and donate blood. The Blood Connection will be set up inside taking donations. Walk-ins welcome but pre-registration is preferred. Receive $40 gift card for your donation.

🎟️Chainsaw raffle tickets will be available for purchase until 2:50; winner announced at 3pm.

Donors will receive $70 in bonus rewards, these rewards will be received in the form of E-cards, the donor gets to select the retail store, home improvement store, restaurant, or entertainment from a big list of participating franchises, chain stores, and businesses, or the amount can be received on a Visa E-card to be used anywhere that accepts Visa.

O-negative donors (the universal donor blood type) will receive $120 in bonus rewards at tomorrow's drive.

Local blood supplies are low in the hospitals in our area, if you can donate please help us.

BONUS $ JUST INCREASED- Due to the blood shortage in WNC, I just received word that all donors at our Spring Creek Community Center blood drive, this Friday from 11-4, will now receive $70 in bonus rewards instead of $50.

Our next community blood drive is at the Spring Creek Community Center on Friday, June 7, during the next monthly Vendor Market.
The Blood Connection mobile unit will be on-site for anyone who wants to donate. The bonus rewards are $50 per donor!
Scheduling your appointment is easy, by visiting www.thebloodconnection.org and using the sponsor code 8295. Walk-ins will have a longer wait (scheduled donors will be given priority) and may be turned away if the schedule is full. So please sign up now and guarantee your spot!

Thanks to Trust General Store and Cafe, who have given our blood drives continued support, through staff member blood donations and advertising, please stop by and thank them for their support, and replenish your nutrition with a snack or meal.
Also continued thanks to the community center board members (our co-coordinator, Mary Jo Bennett) for their coordination with this project, the vendor market for partnering with calendar planning and sharing space with the mobile unit, and Dave's 209 and COOP/Essential Element for sharing parking with us during our events.
We have a blood drive calendar planned through December and we're looking forward to a great season of donating and helping our community!

Thanks to everyone who came out on Friday and supported our community blood drive! Our results were great, 20 whole blood units and 2 double units were donated to The Blood Connection. These donations remain local to WNC, so we are supporting our community and our neighbors by donating.
SAVE THE DATE- THE NEXT DONATION OPPORTUNITY IS FRIDAY, JUNE 7 FROM 11 TO 4, AT THE SPRING CREEK COMMUNITY CENTER.

If you donated on April 5th, you will be date-eligible at this next scheduled drive.
