It's the last day CSO's Food Pantry is open in October 2025. If you plan to get food at no cost, please bring the following:

• A photo ID

• Proof of Garland County, Arkansas, residency

• Proof of Income for household residents ages 18 and older

Many of our neighbors are feeling the effects of the government shutdown, including furloughed employees, families and seniors who rely on food assistance. Approximately 11% of Garland County residents, nearly 11,000 people, receive SNAP benefits, which may be affected beginning November 1.

HSWLA is proud to support Project HOPE Food Bank, which provides food and essentials to local pantries and shelters throughout Garland County. We’ve spoken with their team, and they are preparing to serve our community through this uncertain time.

HSWLA is accepting monetary donations for Project HOPE Food Bank and will match contributions up to $1,000 to help continue feeding local families in need.

DHS continues to anticipate a disruption in November SNAP benefits unless additional guidance is received from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) about the availability of federal funding for this program. We now anticipate that the EBT card system will remain functional in November even if the federal government shutdown continues. This means that saved benefits could still be used in November even if new benefits are disrupted by the shutdown.

SNAP recipients are encouraged to visit ar.gov/snap to check on updates on SNAP.
