Empowering people with disabilities to live independently. We’re a nonprofit Center for Independent Living located in Hot Springs, Arkansas, providing person-centered support and advocacy to help individuals with disabilities live independently in their homes and communities.

🎉 We’re Reopening! 🎉

Good news, friends — SAILS will be OPEN tomorrow, Monday, February 2nd!

After shoveling, scraping, and surviving this icy nightmare 🧊❄️, we now have a safe, accessible path and entryway cleared. We’re so looking forward to seeing everyone and getting back to some much-needed normalcy.

A quick heads-up: the front portion of our parking lot is still pretty frozen, and we expect it to remain that way tomorrow morning. For everyone’s safety, please steer clear of that area and stick to the parking spaces near the fenceline, cleared paths, and accessible entryways when arriving.

Thank you so much for your patience, grace, and understanding while safety had to come first. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow! 🩵

Day at the Capitol postponed to Thursday, February 5

Due to the inclement weather we have been experienced, we have made the decision to postpone our Day at the Capitol.

The event will now take place on Thursday, February 5, at 10:00 AM at the Arkansas State Capitol.

We will still hold the poster-making contest and follow the plan outlined in the original announcement.

While we cannot control the weather, we appreciate your flexibility and understanding as safety remains our top priority.

❄️ Closure Update ❄️

Due to continued icy and unsafe conditions, SAILS will remain closed. While roads are slowly improving, our sidewalks, ramps, and entryways are still solid ice, and many of our staff are still unable to safely leave their driveways.

The safety of our consumers, staff, and community is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding as we make decisions based on safety and accessibility.

The Warming Center at the Community Resource Center (109 Hobson) remains open for anyone who needs a warm and safe place.

We will continue to monitor conditions and will update everyone as soon as we know when we can safely reopen.
