Meet our next Teacher Spotlight: Gail!! ✨

I started my yoga journey about 15 years ago, as a form of exercise. But soon after that I discovered there was more to yoga than just the physical - it was also a spiritual journey for me.

When I started my yoga teacher training (Karen’s first teacher training class) I was interested in learning more about the philosophy of yoga as well as the anatomy. I had no interest in actually teaching! On the day we were covering chair yoga, I had an epiphany and KNEW I had to teach. I have been teaching now for 12 years and love every minute of it!

I retired from work 6 years ago and discovered there is a whole new world outside. Now I spend my spare time quilting, spending time with friends, and serving my church (Unitarian Universalist Village Church).

My grandchildren call me Gecko so I have a gecko tattooed on my foot (my oldest granddaughter drew this). I have another tattoo that is for my husband’s eyes only.

I am excited about this new chapter of The Yoga Place and am so thankful that Melissa and Missy made their commitment to continue what Karen Reeves lovingly started.

Fun fact about Gail: she collects Frankoma pottery!

Catch her in the studio during her regular schedule, Thursdays at 10:00 AM for Bend & Breathe 💕

✨ Mental Health Awareness Month ✨

A reminder of how important it is to have a space where you can simply be… without pressure or expectation. That’s always been the heart of our studio; a place where you’re welcomed as you are, with a community that supports you on every kind of day.

This month, we’re introducing our first donation-based community-centered class. It’s truly pay-what-you-can—whether that’s a dollar, a can of food, or something you no longer need. All donated items will support local charities.

This class is about showing up, supporting one another, and creating space for everyone to belong.

Join us Saturday, May 23rd at 9am for our first donation-based community yoga class.

✨ Teacher Appreciation Week Spotlight: Rachel Hogue ✨

Rachel’s yoga journey began in college as a way to center her mind while supporting her fitness goals—but what started as something practical quickly grew into something much deeper. After earning her certifications through NASM in both Group Fitness and Personal Training, she began incorporating yoga to better serve her clients. Over time, it became more than movement—it became a powerful tool for helping people move through life’s harder seasons, guiding them out of mental loops and back into the grounding awareness of their bodies.

Right now, she’s especially loving supported fish pose—a simple yet transformative heart opener that gently improves posture and creates a sense of ease that feels almost therapeutic.

What continues to inspire Rachel most is the energy of the room. There’s something powerful about people breathing together, finding stillness and connection in a world that rarely slows down—and that shared experience never gets old.

Outside of the studio, Rachel spends her time with family, caring for her (slightly excessive 😉) collection of 57 houseplants, reading, and moving her body in ways that feel good and nourishing.

She’s especially grateful to be part of a yoga community that was already so strong before she arrived in Hot Springs—one built on encouragement, respect, and a true understanding of what yoga is all about.

And a fun fact you might not know: Rachel was in a movie at 18, playing a tomboy navigating life with Type 1 diabetes.

We’re so grateful to have Rachel as part of our teaching family. 💛 catch her in the studio Fridays at 8:30 AM!

✨ Teacher Appreciation Week Spotlight: Day 1 ✨

We’re so excited to shine a light on Becky this week! Many of you already know her from subbing classes over the past year, and we’re thrilled to share that she’ll be joining us regularly starting in June—taking over our Monday evening “Melt into Monday” class at 6pm!!

Becky’s yoga journey began simply by trying a class offered at her workplace fitness center—and she quickly discovered a love for the practice that has continued to grow. These days, her favorite pose is Standing Bow, and what keeps her inspired is the connection she shares with others walking a similar path.

Outside the studio, you’ll likely find Becky gardening, reading, or birding—embracing the same sense of presence and appreciation she brings into her classes. She’s drawn to our studio for the same reasons so many of you are: the welcoming, community-minded atmosphere and the feeling of being part of an extended family.

Fun fact: Becky has a private pilot license ✈️ (yes, really!)—so whether she’s guiding you through a flow or flying through the skies, she brings focus, calm, and confidence to everything she does.

And if you’re wondering… her go-to indulgence is chocolate 🍫

We’re so grateful to have Becky as part of our teaching family. Be sure to show her some love and join her on the mat Mondays at 6pm, starting in June! 💕💕
