🧠 Mental Health Myth: “If I stay busy enough, I won’t have to feel it.”

Truth:
Busyness can feel like control. Like safety. Like survival.

But staying constantly in motion doesn’t make the feelings disappear — it just delays them. And over time, that emotional weight doesn’t go away… it just gets heavier to carry.

Therapy offers a space to slow down — to gently turn toward what you’ve been running from, with compassion and support.
Not all at once. Not too fast. Just enough to start breathing again.

At Healing routes, we strive to create a safe space to do just that. And we're here to share that space with you when you're ready.

At Healing Routes Counseling, LLC, we believe that healing is a journey, unique to each individual, and we are here to walk alongside you as you navigate your path towards greater well-being, resilience, and fulfillment through our counseling services.

Continuing with tackling myths this week....Let’s clear this one up ⬇️

While it might look like advice from the outside, therapy is not about someone telling you what to do. Good therapy is about helping you understand yourself better—your patterns, your emotions, your needs—so you can decide what’s best for you.

Your therapist isn’t there to hand you solutions. They’re there to walk with you while you uncover them for yourself.

There are no “bad” feelings.
Not every emotion is comfortable, but every emotion carries information. Even discomfort is a signal.

Sometimes life’s stressors leave us overwhelmed, and we miss the message our emotions are giving us. When we don’t understand what we feel, it can feel like trying to navigate in the dark. Bumping into pain we can’t see, unsure of which way to go.

But you do have a light. Everyone does. It just gets hard to find in the dark.

We’re here to help add some light to the dark and hold the light with you. One day, finding that you can carry the light by yourself.

You don’t have to explain you're tired.

You don’t need a five-point essay to justify your exhaustion, you’re allowed to feel tired.
From doing too much, from holding it all together, from existing in a world that seems to never stop asking for more.

Some of us carry invisible labor that doesn’t clock out:
• Managing emotions (ours and others)
• Anticipating needs before they’re spoken
• “Keeping it together” when chaos swirls
• Pretending we’re fine — even when we see all the ways things aren't fine.

If you’re feeling worn down, exhausted to your core, to your bones, please know that it makes sense and you're not alone.

At Healing Routes Counseling, we honor the complexity behind your tired.
You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to explain your overwhelm.
You get to just be.

And we’re here to hold space for that.

When you're ready, we're here to listen.
